The Matterhorn is one of my favorite offerings from Bark River of 2016. While it is a full tang knife, it's handle is fully encased by the Micarta scales which when mixed with the guard, it gives it a very unique look. I have found that it's usefulness in the field is easily matched in the kitchen for food prep. The versatility of this blade brings a lot to the table.

Thanks Joe! Glad to see someone point out that there are tasks in the woods for a knife OTHER than "Batonning, Feathersticking and Ferro Rod Sparking." That does look like a Keeper!

hahaha! It's easy to default to the norm but that would have been a disservice to this blade. Thanks Leslie!

Couldn't put my finger on what I liked about how that knife looks... And then ya said it. It was the hidden tang. You don't see that much. Looks great. Sweet knife, can't believe how light that is.

Aesthetically, that hidden tang makes this knife. It is just classy. Thanks Alexander!

Great looking knife, and I know Bark River produces high quality knives. The convex grind is so easy to maintain by simply stropping occasionally (in my experience) and is no doubt the strongest grind. The sheath is top quality as well. It is worth the money, as it will serve you for years and years. I am so glad you are using BR knives, as I enjoy your videos very much, and you do not embellish. Thanks

That looks like a knife I may like will keep checking it out. I have just got a Bravo 2 Bark River knife and it is all and more than I had in mind for a knife. I was worried it wasn't that good, man was I wrong. So I really like the looks of that Matterhorn and will not wait 6-8 months before I pull the trigger. Thanks for the review.

I haven't used the Bravo 2 but I bet they would be perfect companions. Bravo 2 for beast mode and this for the fine work. One of these days I want to lay hands on a Bravo 3! Thanks Rick!

As much as I love the Canoe's fuller for aesthetics and lightness, I do feel like I'm putting more effort in when wiping it down / cleaning. Just that little extra step to get the nooks and crannies. For a blade so beautiful, its probably worth it :p

That's a beautiful thing Joe! I'm curious about the steel, because like you, food prep is one of the main tasks for which I use my knives. That's why I am always looking for stainless blades at or under 5" long.
@feralwoodcraft
@feralwoodcraft 7 жыл бұрын
A2 handles food prep in my experience just fine. It'll pick up a bit of a patina but doesn't corrode nearly as easily as O1 or 1095 in my experience. Thanks Charles!

Feral Woodcraft That's helpful to know, beause I've had my experiences with 1095. I was able to clean it up without too much difficulty, but it's not forgiving. Thanks!

my bark river with a2 has a bad patina, what can i use to cover or re-force? mustard or vinegard wich is better?

@feralwoodcraft 7 жыл бұрын
You can do either. If you want to get rid of it, check this out: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fXrCYaaNoNdmi9U If you want to finish it out, just use a vinegar bath or mustard as normal. THanks!

Yep , starting to get a bit tired of the way youtube has categorised knifes. Had Bowie knives for many years , then someone told it wasn't very good for a lot of tasks . Now I carry blades for chopping , slicing, filleting, bushcraft etc. Better go and buy a bigger backpack, Ha. Or I could just buy a Matterhorn , go out in the bush for a week and know the knife could do what I needed it to . But , I suppose the problem really is , Where're all knife addicts and must have more . Enjoyed the vid, cheers.

Well Joe....as you stated it's an excellent Chef's knife. So....why is this worth 200 dollars of my hard earned money when I can spend soooooooo much less on so many knives, and accomplish the same tasks??? ;)
