I can understand that. Your knife is performing quite well in all tasks given to it; it even rivals the GB Outdoor Axe in some specific task(s). That's saying something.

Pink G-10 After chopping see how easy it is for each one to featherstick. I got the Shining Mountain Bowie on the way. That thing is crazy big.

I don't chop much but the trail buddy 3 is my go to large camp knife.

I don't have that particular knife model, but I'll be sure to take a look at it. Oh, and I also don't usually chop that much, at least not with knives, except for these stress-tests etc.

The "Original Chopping Contest" was won by the JX5, with the Dakkar close second and 1909 MB placed third. There are some videos showing the three doing some random battling. ;)

When I made this video, I didn't yet own some of my largest models such as the Grasso Bolo III, Parang, Pro Brush Knife and Battle Cleaver. That's why it isn't in this video. I should probably make a new, updated video like this one.

Hi Pink G10. I'm also curious to how do you like the Canadian Camp II? Do you find the handle comfortable for heavy work?
@PinkG10
@PinkG10 6 жыл бұрын
Hi! To be honest, and I feel I can be that, since I do not in any way work for Bark River, I can say that I'm not, personally, a big fan of the handle of the Canadian-series. I know many people who do like the handle, but I also know of a few that doesn't. Simple as that. I kind of wish it wasn't made with the finger grooves. but I did modify my CCII a bit, by using sandpaper, to "round" the finger grooves a little/make them less "pronounced". I know mods to the handle can be requested when buying one or by sending it in for "spa treatment". The knife itself is light and swift, a very good over all camp knife. You can also do some light-medium chopping with it, but due to the somewhat short blade length of 8" and the thinner spine of ~.190, I would stick to light chopping. All in all, a great camp/all around knife!

Thank you for the answer. I appreciate your honesty a lot. I have a 1909 MB coming to Denmark soon :D Decided to get it after I saw your videos and your last comment. Keep up the good work!

How are you liking the Shining Mountain Bowie ?
@PinkG10
@PinkG10 7 жыл бұрын
It's a great looking knife, quite capable of doing some heavy work - but for me, personally, it feels a bit "clunky". It's a VERY big and heavy blade, and I knew that when I bought it, but it still feels a little too "clunky" to me. Because of that, I've not used it as much as many of my other, larger, knives.

Pink G-10 ok thanks for your reply. I bought one also. I actually like it. Just wanted your opinion on it.

I need to spend some more (quality) time with it to give you a fair, honest opinion. I do not in any way regret getting one, it's just a bit larger/heavier than I expected it to be. But it sure has its uses.

Pink G-10 Its actually my first Bark River. Years ago I had the Blackjack Shining Mountain Bowie and while it was made from 52100 steel which is a very good steel I wasn't comfortable doing any hard use with it because the handle and tang seemed like it won't be able to handle it. This version however seems like it could handle very hard use.

Congrats on your first Bark River! That's a big knife to start with, but then again, you've already owned one before, although from Blackjack. Still the same actual maker, though. Also, 52100 is a great, strong steel - but I understand how you think. I'm quite certain that the BRK Shining Mountain Bowie can withstand some reallly hard and heavy use.
