As someone who was involved in radio for many years programming music ...as far as I'm concerned I'd like to thank Barry's Mom and Dad for creating four boys who are the epitome of class, humor, generosity and good 'ole "down-to-earth" humility. I fell in love with all four boys... impossible not to...just four angels creating miracles here on earth.
I’ve often thought that they really just sang to each other and we just got to eavesdrop …

Their success is a classic example of perseverance, hard work, determination, and not to give up on your dreams. They have humble beginnings. I was mostly touched by their revelation that when their father lost the band because bands were losing popularity then, then became a photographer but still money was tight, Barry, Robin, and Maurice at such young ages started performing in different venues and eventually were getting paid for their performances which then allowed them to support the Gibbs family. Then, their father became their manager while their mother took care of their costumes or wardrobe for their performances. I love them all even more because of this!

From 12:37 - Robin's crazy/funny comments would many times interrupt Barry and let him lost, but they would also literally make him laugh out loud! :D Thanks Mo for always be in the middle to filter that!

Brings a smile to my face and yet it's sad to think these times are passed. Hard to remember when a Album/Band was valued for the Music they produced and their image wasn't even secondary it was just a byproduct. Just like Hollywood no longer has Story Tellers (CGI, sequels, and bastardized remakes) Music No longer has Substance It's all Image, autotuned airbrushed lighting and implants. Great Interview, Thank for Posting

Why do people get on these comments and write presumptuous,things about stars and musicians, Barry doesn't seem to be as opinionated about them all as others who seem to know it all and insult Maurice and Robin, Barry has said in many interviews how much.talent Maurice had on instruments and all you have to do is listen to his and =Robin s gorgeous voices and it's an obvious conclusion, what their contributions are. I say shame on you who are talking about the deceased. And making Barry defend his loved ones, if he is reading the streaming commentary! I personally hope he doesn't!

Sooo funny, right after I read your comment, I sit here with my iPad on my lap, holding one side in one hand when Maurice starts laughing and I could *FEEL IT* just like a machine gun, in my hand «ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha» (which was holding just over the loudspeakers)!!! 🤣

amazing that Barry said they couldn't see them being the Bee Gees in their 50's but they were having their last world tour in their 50's. sadly Mo was gone soon after that, I can only imagine how much they would have done if Mo hadn't died, that really sidelined Robin, Barry too but Robin I don't think ever really came to terms of that loss.
@gloriamaryhaywood22176 жыл бұрын
lorettarwll1 No. Sadly Robin never came to terms over losing his twin, Mo. There are some videos of Robin after Mo's passing, that I can barely stand to look at, because the pain and that lost look on Robins face is just too hard to bear. Robin was so lost in a world of hurt and confusion.........

I used to get beat up for listening to them. I took their records to school with me so proudly carrying them on the bus along with Elton John. Came home with black eyes and bruises. It was all worth it. They and Elton were my musical education because my parents couldn't afford lessons. Forever grateful for every song they've written.

I know, right? It just wasn't cool to be a fan. I am too old to care what others think, now, and have found so many others who were also fans through that time, who survived and still are. We're a resilient bunch, just like the Bee Gees music 💙

@@beeharbour Yes. Maurice had such class. Gorgeous man he was. I'm thinking you're right about the silver suits for Mo and Robin anyway. Barry was partial to the unbuttoned shirt, he may have come up with the idea lol

@@katie-didellis2437 Missy M is right. Those suits were Barry to a T and on top of that they screamed disco. That label saw them boycotted in the anti-disco movement and their demise in the US for a considerable time. Barry was a showman first and foremost. It's hard to defend them when people call them a disco band. I know they weren't but to the haters they played right into their hands. Clever marketing could have avoided that. Those suits were a disaster.
@katie-didellis24374 жыл бұрын
@@missym7245 it may have been a marketing nightmare, but I enjoyed it. The DJ who started the hate disco craze and from that hate the Bee Gees years years later recanted saying he regretted his actions. The campaign was based on the fact he couldn't dance and was jealous of everyone else who could so the logic thing is to destroy what you couldn't do. I'm sure he got into a lot of Flack due to the riot that happened in the baseball stadium. The second game had to be canceled and the home team had to Forfeit the game as a loss.
