I have a special place in my heart for the '53s. When I was a kid, an uncle's neighbor had an all-white 2-door DeVille. The guy was a salesman & back in those days driving a Caddy said to the world that you have arrived. Great times. Saw an older gent driving one on I-94 in St Clair Shores last summer (2023). The '53 Eldo was a gleaming creamy light-yellow convertible with a matching color top. The driver had a huge white Panama hat & he looked like an old mob boss. The smile on his face looked like he swallowed a coat hanger. I gave him a thumbs up when I drove by him & he waved. Whatever it takes to bring this one back will be well worth it.

It was Lovely to watch, I owned a 51 Fleetwood back in 1961 Here in the UK… It was immaculate back then, Once belonged to the Ethiopian embassy. So totally immaculate, I used to go To the local coffee cafes around the East End of London and it stood out because of its beauty and size, , The boss of the Coffee cafes used to like it outside, their custom Went up when it was parked outside, Lovely old days .. good memories.

Oil Filter is a aftermarket Franz filter which uses toilet rolls as filter medium. The Booster is the same as used on some Chevy trucks (1938-46 etc) and Mercedes ponton and 190SL models from 1951-1961 and a re rebuildable .There's a guy called Will Samples , who specialises in the rebuilding of them.

That original Eldorado is one of my all time favorites. That's sure gonna cost a few bux to do RIGHT... the top and interior alone are probably going to run a good $25 Large. The sad part is that I'd bet it wasn't in too bad of shape when it was parked... It just looks like it got hot and cold and wet about 1,000 times in whatever building it was being stored in. That Class III hitch is worth it's weight in gold to someone that has a pre-'54 Cadillac, who also has a couple of vintage camping trailers! Oh... And that spare tire. It's old, but it's not the original spare. It's probably a Denman or a Broadway bias ply... Really popular in the Seventies and Eighties with the Collector Car crowd. Those were the only Wide White Wall tires one could readily buy, unless you bought the Silvertown tires from Sears... But not many people did, because they were "expensive" at the time... A WHOLE $65 to $80 per tire! 😂 Those Broadway bias plys were something like $45 each and would last forever.

That is an extremely rare car. It requires a ton of work, money and spare parts, but at least it will not only be beautiful but also valuable enough to put all the effort into it. Thanks for showing it to us! Coldwar motors showed the restoration of the hydraulic window regulators on a 1953 Oldsmobile 98. It is somehow over complicated. I suppose those windows might have the same system. Love the blue of the interior: I hope you will show us the progress and end result of this vehicle on your channel.

@@beatglauser Man... I used to tour playing music. I remember being in Long Beach in the really early 90s and the folks that my band and I were staying with, took us around town one day to see all of the vintage clothes stores and whatnot. I specifically remember seeing a white Eldo sitting FORLORN in a driveway someplace there! The couple that was driving us around also mentioned that even they tried a million times to get ahold of the owner, but to no avail. I'd bet that it's the very same car! Not too many of them in the first place, right?
@townhall054467 ай бұрын
I wonder if there was a year soon after with a similar body / window design which had electrics, and could be transplanted back? I've heard those hydraulics are a lot of trouble. Normally I really prefer authenticity but not when it's gonna be trouble.

There used to be one in down in So Cal possibly Long Beach area in 1987 that was sitting in someone's driveway. The top was up, destroyed, four flats, it looked like it sat there from the 1960s. I rang the doorbell, knocked on the door, and nobody answered. I left a note in the mailbox but never heard anything. I was visiting a college girl I was dating at the time and we were out driving my 59 Cadillac Coupe De Ville that I still have and never had the opportunity to revisit the car. Anyone out there remember that one, or know where it went? They're so rare, I am sure I wasn't the only one who tried to buy it.
