Nice job !! I have a 1976 model, same color as yours with over 9,000 miles on it and still going good. Carburetor needs some help but I love this thing.

I remember my old Solex. Had lots of fun with it. Modified it did 45. It would do 50 but it was screaming at that speed.

Really nice job restoring the looks of your Moby. Just picked up a 1978 Moby and will have to do the same to mine. Thanks for the video!

Very nice. I didn't know that they were also available in America. Here in France they were used a lot. Also Peugeot 101, 102, 103 and Solex. As these things are indestructible, there are still many in the villages and cellars.

When I had my BECANE, as we called them in the WASHINGTON DC AREA, we had what was called a BEEF KIT...THEY RAN AS FAST AS CLOSE TO 60 PLUS MPH...BIGGER CYLINDERS, AND COMPATIBLE JETS IN THE CARB, AND SMALL CONVERTS....LOTS OF FUN...OWNED MAYBE 4 AFTER I GOT THE MOTOBECANE FEVER

Where do you find parts for these like the fuel petcock?

Ebay is your best friend for parts like that

I found a 78 Moby in great cosmetic condition. The only problem is the odo is at 2900, which is feeling reallllly long in the tooth for a moped motor. I picked it up, price was too good to pass on if it could be made to run. Compression is fine, ignition will have to be redone. I figure that these moped engines are so expendable that you can keep rebuilding/replacing them as needed, so the mileage is less of an issue. At least that's what I keep telling myself lol
@wrenchandrip2 жыл бұрын
Awesome! Yes they are very replaceable and easily rebuildable. Basically a chainsaw engine in a bicycle frame LOL
@jackdodsworth60772 жыл бұрын
@@wrenchandrip it actually looks like it has an AV10 motor as opposed to the AV7. My very limited knowledge of these things has me under the impression that they came with the AV7 stock, so I'm hoping that high mileage has been split between the original motor and a later replacement. Were there any mobys that came with the AV10 stock?
@mattketner75972 жыл бұрын
@@jackdodsworth6077 lmao 2,900 miles is nothing. I’ve put 15,000+ miles on builds over the years. Just build them right the first time. Also yes, some bikes came with AV10 engines.

@mattketner7597 that's what I was thinking, 8k+ is what I'd call high for a moped

Where did you get the new grips and petcock. Thanks and great job
@wrenchandrip Жыл бұрын
I got kids sized grips from my local shop and they worked great on it (normal size grips were too wide). Petcock came from Ebay, found a new old stock one made in italy.
