I took a boilermaking course, translating into more locksmithing for offshore work. I learned it that way, by hand. Cutting, drilling, threading, chamfering, filing... It's pretty cool to see the result, more than work it gives!

Just bought a very old Wolfcraft drill stand. Very similar like this one. I wrote to the manufacturer that it is good for d43 neck drill or not. They said, the stand is 30 years old, based on the picture i did and said also that is compatible. Also proposed to buy the modern one, but nooo. The stand what i have has solid still hexagon coloumn, the base is also casted steel and not die cast aluminium as nowadays. The part which receives the drill is solid die casted aluminium and not pressed sheet metal. At the end it is robust and works.

very nice restoration, a spring is missing, the plastic clamping ring at the base of the column serves as a support for the spring you are missing, it is a spring with 35mm internal diameter.

But where is the spring? 😄 it was never disassembled before and there was no spring when I disassembled it 🤔 Maybe there are different models with and without a spring

He'd have to change the blasting medium more often due to all the paint chips contaminating it. The paint might have lead in it too, so it's best to use stripper first.

Der Material, Energie und Zeitaufwand steht überhaupt nicht im Verhältnis zum geschaffenem Wert, zumal das Gerät keineswegs alt ist. Kunststoff und Metall trennen, ab in die Verwertung, neues Gerät kaufen (keine 100 Euro), wäre sinnvoller. Hätte aber bestimmt nicht so viel Spass gemacht und keine Schulterklopfer eingebracht. Nix für Ungut.

Das ist definitiv Ansichtssache und ich bin da ganz anderer Meinung. Erstens hat das gute Stück für den Freund für den ich es restauriert habe einen hohen ideellen Wert. Zweitens muss man nicht alles wegwerfen und neu kaufen, nur weil es nicht mehr schick aussieht. Drittens war der Materialaufwand nicht wirklich hoch. Und das ganze abgesehen davon, dass man ja nicht den gleichen Aufwand betreiben muss wie ich in dem Video. Man hätte das Teil auch weniger aufwendig restaurieren können. Das ist aber nicht mein Stil und nicht der Zweck den ich verfolge. Aber jeder kann es ja so machen wie er oder sie möchte. Nichts für Ungut 🙂

@@DrHutOfHandcraft Sorry, aber der ideelle Wert von Bohrmaschinenständern ist mir nicht ganz verständlich. Das restaurierte Gerät sieht durchaus schick aus. Der Materialaufwand war nicht hoch, aber hochbrisant (z.B. Rostlöser). Nicht allen gefällt halt unbedingt alles. 🙂
