I bought two 044s in the early '90s, while logging at the family ranch in Montana. I used them both until 2000, then started using them again from 2010 to 2017. Both saws still start and run as they should; neither saw has ever been back to a saw shop for repairs. I still have the saws with 28 inch bars on them and lots of extra bars and chains, ready to go. I think the 044 is about as good as it gets for a mid-sized saw with great chain speed. Cheers.

Nice no nonsense work on that 400 and while I love the old saws, the lighter and better vibration damped saw is a winner for me. Ive been running a 362 for awhile now, and been really happy with it. Only thing Ive done with mine is a WCS muffler and air filter which really woke it up, and swapped to a 25" light bar with a half skip chain.
@7eis2 жыл бұрын
362 is awesome with a 25 light bar. Got the reach for blocking down, excellent bump up in bar length and power from my top handle. awesome positioning in the tree with the wrap handle. 25" is the sweet spot where I can work very close to the ground without bending over or squatting. For more than a tank of bucking I'll grab my 500 or 660 from the van though.
@CorwinBos2 жыл бұрын
@@7eis Yup, I can borrow a 660 with a 36" if I need it, but I very seldom need a saw that big for what I do. That 25" bar is a back saver though, as Im 6'7", even though my buddies think its just too much. I ran a full house chain on that 25" for a bit, but I found the saw was just a little under powered for it. Switching to a 1/2 skip and being able to keep the revs up helps a ton. Only thing I should have done different when I bought the saw was getting a full wrap handle on it.

Combustion engines are under heavy regulations to become more fuel efficient and even more environmentally friendly. These regulations often cause product advancement to slow down.
