When the oldest one makes more hp, and the second oldest one makes more torque, what do we need the newest one for? Oh wait a minute, the EPA 👎

I purchased one a few years back and now it doesn’t want to start/run. So pissed as it’s hardly used. Purchased mine brand new. Ran great for a couple years. Now it’s nothing.

I use to love my ms361 pro when I had it. Now I can't afford Stihl. So I bought a Neotec clone of the ms382 I believe and a Farmatec clone of the ms200t I use to have. Of course since I can't afford a real Stihl pro saw, I can't afford to get either saw built. But if I could, I think I'd pick you to build it. Your work seems so cleanly done. 😎👍 Great video.

I like the old, and newer up to 2000s. Not a huge fan of the new electronic saws but do plan to maybe pick up a 661cm. Great video.

How fast should this saw run unloaded with a 620 carb, new deflector, and timing key? Is 13K too fast to be safe?

Steadfast mufflers sounds the best. But according to the dyno, I’d rather have your modded muffler for longer bars, and general storm cleanup. With the latter, you never know how often you may burry the saw and bog it down too much in varying conditions.

I cannot hear any difference before and after the nozzle change out. How could you tell it needed it?
@JohnDoe-ud2cc14 күн бұрын
I just picked one up. Reading up on them they have made a few carb changes to them over the years. What carb was on that one? It’s probably the smallest carb
@gumboot6514 күн бұрын
For a production faller . The biggest difference would be the difference in run time on a tank of fuel. And the size timber they were in. For myself , i would lean heavily to the 585. I had great success with the 288s once they put a decomp valve on them , spring mounts and slotted the cowling devider (the fore runner of the Air Flow system )

Every saw builder. "Can't share my secrets " That's the reason a 1990 saw can match or exceeed a saw built last year. Y'all treat it like a vip club with no doors. And wonder why more people arent getting involved. It shouldn't be this hard to remain interested in this hobby.
@dynojoemods276415 күн бұрын
Everything that was done to this saw was shown and talked about in the remaining parts. Nothing hidden or secret about it. It's all part of the fun acting like it is something special. But it really isn't. Solid port shapes. Good size and at the right time is all it takes to make power. The newest stuff built is actually harder to make good power from than the stuff buit 20-30 years ago.
@gumboot6515 күн бұрын
Hello Sir; Now that its been 1 year. What are your thoughts on this 79cc build ? I noticed that it has more torque than the 572 build that you did. Which of the 2 would you recommend for a west coast faller running a 32 to 36 in bar ? Also, the graph, is it read from left to right or right to left ? Tho ive mostly run powersaws gor a living since 73. Theres some of this modern technology that im clueless on. Thank you for your vids !!
@dynojoemods276415 күн бұрын
Bigger displacement generally has better tq, this saw dosent have much run time on it at all, I really need to figure out why it wont idle and try some different port work see if I can really get some power

Did you put it on the Dyno ? How does it compare to the 565 or 572 with your modified muffler ?? Is it possible to mount the carb from a 585 on it ? Im old , we used to have 2100 carbs mounted onto 266s . Super impressive for such a light weight saw. !

I think it's great . If you can make a 565 (71cc) into a 79 cc saw , and it has the horse power and torque gains needed so it competes with a 500i. As far as being able to pull a 36" bar full of 34" of Sitka Spruce or Western Hemlock. And have it last for a season of bushlin. I'll send you my 565 and have you build it !!! The factory 372 Western that came with 75 cc p&c from the factory. Would cut the same times with the same chain as the 460 Stihl. If you can beat that, your doing Great !!

Thanks Dyno Joe for this analytical saw info - fascinating stuff! About the hole in the 500i dyno graph at the upper rpm range... do you think that was done to look favorable on European emissions testing? Is the ability coming connect a computer to the saw's fuel computer and change the fuel table like they do when "re-flashing" engine control units (ECUs) in cars to correct the air/fuel ratio across the rpm range?
@dynojoemods276415 күн бұрын
The dip is just in the tuning. The 500i without a lot of time on them like to richen way up under no/light load. Takes a while for them to learn/not do that.

Ever thoght about dynoing the same saw with different premix oils with different ratios? To see if there's much of any difference? M-Tronic and Stihl 500i would be nice to see. Ever run ethanol?
@apuuvah19 күн бұрын
Come to think of it, each saw would have to adjust for each fuel. I can see how this might be labor intensive...

Hi Joe What carburettor are these newer 372xp running?
@TylerKegolis20 күн бұрын
Have you ever worked the older 576xp saws? I love them. Just grabbed a used (in great condition) 576xpg. Never had one before. Been running saws almost everyday for 15 years (tree trimmer), but im a total noob to the "build" scene. I also have a 1st gen 461 and a t540. Any suggestions you could give me on how to make them more gnarly? Also, id like a saw in the 50s to climb with when the t540 just doesnt "cut it" and I dont need the two in the mid/high 70s i own either. I was looking into buying a new 550xp mark ii or a 562xp. I am sure you are busy, but if you are able to respond with some advice, id appreciate your wisdom so much 🙏. If not, thank you anyway! 🙂

I have built a couple 576s have to be careful I have seen a few come in with bad cases/bottom ends. Bearing wears into the case on the clutch side.
