Hi Laura, I am so happy that you trimmed the boxwood into spheres because it’s like the continuation of the waterfall with the stones. If they had been made into a hedge I think it would’ve made the whole area look too harsh and not as natural as it is now. I think this garden area is my favourite! ❤️🇨🇦

Hi Laura! I LOVE that area so much, it is my favorite! I'm so glad you didn't turn the boxwoods into a hedge. They look so pretty in a sphere and IMO, I think the hedge would have looked out of place. The urns turned out so pretty, too! I love the yellow petunias added for color. Your plans to make it easier for Benjamin to walk by the water feature is so sweet! I know I've said it before, but I'm really hoping you leave the gazebo just the way it is. It matches the pergola so well! The barn looks really good painted white with black accents. I'm anxious to see how it looks with the added door and the middle door centered and the lights added. It does match the chicken coop really well. I'm glad you're getting closer to getting the root cellar finished. Can't wait to see how you place everything. I really enjoy the "show and tell" parts of your video. We get to see a little bit of everything. Thank you so much for sharing!

The coolbot will be really great for when you cut your flowers next year!!! I can't remember whether or not you grow peonies, but if you do, you can cut them when they are just beginning to crack color in the bud and they will store in the cooler for 5 months (Don't put them in water!). Wrap them in newspaper. When you take them out, fresh cut them, place them in water and they'll open!
@cynthiafisher99074 жыл бұрын
Sharon Orlando I have a lot of peonies and I tried that last year and they just dried up. I tried wrapping them all different ways, too. I don’t know what I could have done wrong.
@NJGardengirl19614 жыл бұрын
@@cynthiafisher9907 Did you do it in a home refrigerator? They are very dry and their fans blow too close to the flowers. It's much different than using a cooler.
@cynthiafisher99074 жыл бұрын
Sharon Orlando Yes, that may have been it, although I did put some of them in the produce drawer. It seems like that would have helped. Oh well, it was a good experiment and I have a ton anyway.
@NJGardengirl19614 жыл бұрын
@@cynthiafisher9907 Any produce in your refrigerator gives off a gas (methane) that is no good for flowers. It's a common mistake - even grocery stores put their floral departments right by the produce department! (They do it because it's colorful). This is gardening - we learn something every day!

I absolutely love your new water feature! It really opened my mind as to just how important & impactful they can be, even in a small space. I also love the barn's paint transformation! I've been bedridden binging your videos & I would like to beg you and/or Aaron to please do the irrigation water video.🙏 I live in zone 7. Our weather sounds kinda similar to yours, hot, dry, windy, etc. but cold in the winter. We've had temps as low as -17°, but the biggest problem is we consistently hit 108° every summer for like 2 months straight🥵. Despite living in the high desert southwest, and while I can appreciate xeriscape, my soul needs a green lush space. Unfortunately, it comes at a huge labor & financial cost. We have to water at least 2 - 3×'s/day in the heat of the summer. Water is always our #1 limiting factor & in writing this I'm realizing just how much it's holding us back creatively by limiting the plants we select, but it also means we can't go camping or travel because no one will water my lil plant babies like we do. I would love to be able to fully enjoy my yard & garden with the piece of mind that I don't have to worry about the water aspect. All that to say, I really desperately NEED the irrigation, watering, drip system video please, please, pretty PLEASE!!🙏 Here's the thing, a lot of videos cover how to run the drip line out to the plants & that I feel confident in, but I'm missing the first part... • Where do all the drip lines start? • How do you accommodate for water features in addition to drip lines for plants? • How many faucets, spigots, thingies are needed per how many square feet? • What do you do when the water faucet is on the other side of a driveway? I have one large section with no water source, so I don't know if I can run a really long line of drip tube/tape from the back yard, or if there's some magic way to have it cross the driveway? (I loved when you drilled a tunnel under the walkway! You're such a genius!! I wish that would work for a driveway) • What timers do you use (brand, make, model, etc.) & how do you set them? Seriously, just so many questions that honestly, it could be a series lol. Yes, there are other channels out there that I'm sure cover these topics, but you have a somewhat similar climate to me so you actually know & understand the battle to keep your plants alive, thriving & producing in intense heat, you're always so clear & thorough in your directions, you're excellent at anticipating our questions, and most importantly... I trust you. I just love you, your channel, your sweet family, & your beautiful home & gardens! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge, experience, & immense wisdom with us. I have learned so much from you!💐

Wow the barn is going to look beautiful. Are you going to paint the doors black like on the coop? The little baby boxwoods are so cute in the urns with the pop of yellow & the ivy. Benjamin will love it that he can get closer to the water more easily. Thats really thinking ahead mom!!! LOL LOL We mom's are good at those kinds of things & it only gets better with time. So many awesome things are happening for y'all & it's so much fun to watch & follow along. I get so many ideas & little project things I want to do. Thank you so much for giving me back the pure joy of gardening. I think I had run out of steam & I was afraid of just saying that was not a good idea if I planted something & it didn't look the way I thought it would. I think I felt to guilty to take a plant out after I planted it. But now if I put something in & I don't like it, I just move it somewhere else or give it away. I now am more sure of myself & I enjoy trying out more plants. So thank you so much for that. I'm having a ball in my garden & I love doing it & just having a good time doing it. I find that I loose track of time when I'm gardening & I don't mind. TFS! HAVE A GREAT DAY. 😀😃😄😁❤💜💙🤗🤗🤭
