Hi, on Monday 19th I went to Windsor Castle for her Majesty's Funeral and thought of you. Saw her pass up the long walk to Windsor Castle. Inside Windsor Castle her 24 year old pony Emma. Stood to attention HM last rode her in July 2022. Her Corgis were also brought out to stand to attention. Made me choke. Her pony Emma also had Her Majesty's Hermes head scarves draped over the saddle and Emma tapped her right hoof when the hearse passed her by. Otherwise she stood at attention. HM Queen Elizabeth II loved all horses and they loved her back.

Santiago is such a talented artist in his own right. So, when he tells you how astounded he was by the Shires he saw, he truly knows a handsome horse when he sees one, because he can TRULY see. He is also correct about the tails when they are working. I heard a story about threshing wheat with a steam engine and a LARGE belt (to drive the thresher). A horse, who was pulling a wagon to collect the grain, flicked its tail that got caught in the belt - which ripped the horse's tail out. It went instantly crazy and they had to kill it. Thereby, proving WHY you have to attend to their tail... one way or another.
@apollotheshire2 жыл бұрын
Thank and yes, that’s exactly what I’m talking about. They are working horses, the tails could cause them to lose much more than a swishy little tail. Thank you for watching and your comment

I just found you videos 2 days ago and I have binge watched most of them (so far). Your horse Apollo could stand with the best of them. You did such an amazing job with him (what an incredible transformation). I miss my horse days. My last horse was a Percheeon mare and she was like riding the lazy boy of horses (so comfy). When I got her it was my intention to breed her to a Fresian and get a hairy black horse on steroids lol. Unfortunately life got in the way and I no longer have horses. Wow! I loved the stable tour Sebastian, getting closer to the magnificent ones! I'm so glad docking is out... the same safety and look is easily done with braiding, net bags, ties etc... then their long tails can swish for flies, help with balance and add to their grace and Majesty, imho. Aren't the Brits fabulous with plaiting? And sewing??! One thing I wish is that we could hear the horse's names. Even stable names would be great to know and identify them by. What a gift to be able to talk with these wonderful, generational Shire families. Do you think maybe someday you could do an interview with them? I loved the bright yellow/gold satin show ribbons ~ Apollo would look stunning in them! I think it's wonderful you made a dream come true and took your family and Apollo to this Shire horse show. I assume it was Apollo's first time flying? Did he need extra inoculations or isolation time? Did you stay with him on the plane? What did he think of it and how did he acclimate in the UK? Was he given a small pasture to relax in, or did you have to keep him away from new kinds of grass? Lol, I guess I don't expect answers for all these questions, but maybe they'll be touched on in coming videos ~ And I really enjoyed this one. Thank you, Sebastian! 🌟🏇🌟

I'm so enjoying these videos! Keep 'em coming! I have always been drawn towards the bigger draft horses since I was just about 2 or 3 when I was first riding. The bigger the better is what I used to say. My great aunt managed a stable where there were lots of different types of horses including draft horses, when they needed to be exercised, she would put me on their backs and I would love to ride them. I was quite the daredevil though, so I would stand on their backs, I would do hand stands, well try to do them, cartwheels also. Thankfully I never got hurt. 🤣🤣

@@apollotheshire yes, I was the dare devil of the family. I had no fear when I was younger. There was an old retired Clydesdale at the stables who didn't like anyone but my great aunt, my dad and I. That was it. One day my great aunt was busy with a client, my dad was out on tour (Navy, out to see for 1 year) and Clyde, yes that was really his name, was being really rambunctious in his stall, he had his reins on him, the ones they used to lead him in and out of the stable, so I grabbed the reins, opened his stall and walked him over to the paddock that was empty. I put him inside the paddock and unhooked his reins and watched him go. I sat on the fence just watching him. Well, he came over as if to let me climb up on him, I had my leg up there and my aunt yelled for me, well there went my balance and I fell. Clyde freaked and moved stepping on my foot in the process. Of course, I screamed and he neighed turned around and he stood over me until my great aunt got there. He wouldn't let my mom near me, he wouldn't let my aunt, who had yelled for me, near me, only my great aunt. Thankfully, because I was so young, I only had a couple of small fractures on the top of my foot, but mostly it was just really bruised. Now, 3 months later there may have been a tricycle and a very steep hill and some older siblings and cousins and dare involved that landed me in my first cast. Did I mention that would be the First cast. There would be plenty more after that one. And yes, I still went riding, but I had to stick to the ponies. And that was only if I was good and stopped climbing the trees and hanging upside down. 🤷🏼♀️
