Hi folks, lIl be uploading a behind the scenes on this video in the next few days. It'll share many of the techniques used to make films like this... and explain why I felt the need to re-upload a couple of times ;)

You know, as much as I love these little edits, you do realize that these keep resetting your viewer counts for this, right? What you could do is simply link the improved versions in the description or comments for the old ones, which as a bonus would also allow people to compare the before/after.

The creepiest character is a puppet based on a burlap voodoo doll. Don't y'all love it when story elements just work?
@William_Bryant Жыл бұрын
As a resident of the pines myself, I truly appreciate the work you put into telling stories worthy of the ill wind that blows through the wood, the creaking footsteps in the night, the snapping twigs that echo the presence of something sinister, and the macabre feeling that you're being watched, only to turn and see nothing amiss. Your storytelling is some of the best mediums for horrific folk tales that come from our neck of the woods, and I hope you never stop telling stories such as this. The chill up the spine of all who hear is a testament to your power as a storyteller.

Barnaby, I certainly hope you don't have a bout of unhealthy perfectionism striking your heart, like some folks here are prone to struggle with. I think we can all agree you hit this one out of the park.

I don't quite remember the details of the previous two uploads enough to be sure of what changes were made, but I love how this time I think the Storyteller is more engaged with what he's telling. Like he controls granny, and appears behind the cloth of the vision. Makes me really get to see the little details of his movements and hands. It's so amazing how these are just little hand puppets. Great work!!

High up in the hills of Appalachia, On a long and lonesome, dusty road Two young lovers driving, Soon to be arriving, At the door of granny's small abode. Granny seemed more frail and more distant, But she, of course, had every right to be. Grandpa had departed; left her broken-hearted wallowing in pain and misery. The house, too, was unusually untidy. With a ropey washing-line strung through the hall. Granny, once so proper living like a squatter. Smells like she's not showering and all. Still the young man couldn't help but notice For reasons that weren't even known to him. Something about granny seemed a bit uncanny. Like something else was living in her skin. That night, he hears her. Shuffling through the hall. She stops. He's searching. She's right outside the door. He twists the door knob, And hopes it's just a dream. He steps outside to realize Granny's nowhere to be seen. The morning daylight brings an explanation. What a fool he'd been the night before! Laundry in the hallway, Hanging near the doorway. That's why she'd been shuffling by the door. He laughs and tells the story to his girlfriend, Who granny had sleep in a different room. She smiled but was thinking, Of dreams where she'd been sinking That plagued the poor girl's sleep the whole night through. Granny's mood was sour over breakfast, The young man fetches water from the tap. She takes one look at the cup, And instantly throws up, Saying, "Are you trying to kill me with that crap?!" The girlfriend, too, is feeling quite off-color. Those awful dreams kept coming every night. And sometimes when she'd wake, She'd wander to the lake. And watch the moonlit ripples glowing bright. And then it hits her, A vision clear as day. She rubs her eyelids, It doesn't go away. A rush of terror, Slicing through her soul! A narrative so chilling, Listen - this is how it goes. Long ago in this very location, A group of ancient settlers did dwell. There; there lived a maiden Who made a living aiding Other women with their reproductive health. From the group there came an accusation, from some man that we'd now-a-days call a snitch. This once dejected lover, Riled many other. And named her as their version of a witch. The bound her limbs and took her to the water. And just as they were lowering her in Before she was submerged She muttered one last curse, "May all the women murder all the men!" That evening they had a celebration. They shimmied to the rhythm of the band. On return from the dance As if in a kind of trance Every woman slashed the throat of every man. He hears a screaming coming from the lake. He goes to find her. But granny is awake. She's by the basement, "She's down there, love! She's scared!" He feels the blade slice through his neck, Then she shoves him down the stairs. Granny greets the girlfriend by the doorway, and asks her what was troubling her so. The girlfriend starts to say, But she pauses right away. Cause she's just seen the blood on Granny's clothes. Granny's smile turns into a grimace. "There's something I'll be telling ya now, dear." She grips her by the shoulder, the poor girl feels colder As granny whispers something in her ear. "I know you saw her rising from the lake. She'll come, she'll find you, Even now when you're awake. There's no use crying, She'll take your soul, as well. She'll kill every man who walks this land, For sending her to hell." The young man gasps and looks around the basement, He's bleeding but not badly hurt at all. It seems that granny's cut didn't quite go deep enough. Plus, the corpse of grandpa broke his fall. He staggers up the stairs into the hallway, and notices wet footprints on the floor. He stands there looking stunned, As they landed one-by-one Heading straight for granny's bedroom door. He kicks the door down. The ritual has begun. His girl convulses as granny shrieks in tongues. He wraps his fingers around his granny's throat. She flails as he squeezes, but eventually she croaks. The young man rushes over to his girlfriend, Who's eyeballs are still rolled back in her head. She suddenly breathes in, Realizes it's him, and says "Thank the lord, I thought that you were dead!" He finds the blade that granny used to cut him, he says "Thank the lord this knife is pretty dull. I'm pretty sure she's gone But if it turns out that I'm wrong; Hold it tight and stick it in her skull." The young man gathers up all their belongings, and tells her that it's time for them to go. He quickly gets a drink of cold water from the sink. And grabs a few more glasses for the road. He goes to hand one over to his girlfriend, The room around her spins and starts to fade. Her head is getting light And she feels her fingers tight Wrapping around the handle of the blade. (It's not perfect, but I did try!)

This is an excellent story with incredible puppetry in display to convey it. I like how a lot of the horror in the tale is about the injustice of extremes; the boyfriend is protective and a good partner to his girlfriend, but as a man, he suffers the same fate as the cruel men that murdered the witch. It goes to show that the cycle of violence is driven by hyperbole.

Also, it's "apple-at-cha" and I will die on this hill lol)
