Also heating cost cheaper and cheaper to maintain.. most people don’t need 4000 square feet
@justkeepingitreal77682 жыл бұрын
The problem with smaller square footages it seems is that builders run up the price to compensate. Just the finished building would be about $204,000. Add in land and a driveway and this smaller home will quickly approach $300,000 if not more.

I live in Central Texas and cost of living is ridiculous. Looking into a small barndo to build on some land.....land is going for about a minimum of $300K for 5-10 acres, then add another $170 sq.ft. around 1500 sq. ft. = $255K which would give you a total note of around $555,000.00.....good luck paying that off. We live in crazy times.....

Agreed with several other comments. More videos regarding “barndos” in the 800 to 1,500 sq ft range. We are both retired and turning 60 this Fall. We travel/camp a great deal and would like a floor plan like this that could also function as an “RV port home”. This would allow us to live comfortably in a smaller home, park the RV under the carport (with full hookups), and then use the RV as a 3rd bedroom and bathroom when our two adult daughters (future husbands, future grandkids, or friends/family) visit. Great floor plan and size!

This is what my sister in law and her husband are doing. They bought a piece of land in Alabama near his family. They have a big, beautiful RV. They want to build a place to park the RV, have a bedroom, living/dining space, full kitchen, laundry room, and bathroom. And also a screen patio. So basically it could be a cabin as long as it has a place for the RV to be protected when not in use, so that it 'ages' slower.

Love it, would need a third bedroom, and more storage space for broom, vacuum, Christmas decorations etc. So down the hall I see a storage closet ,maybe the third bedroom too, would also like his and her closets in the master and maybe a linen closet in the hallway or guest bathroom. Otherwise where do you put sheets, toliet paper etc. Can't have enough storage. Vacuum, broom closet in the mud room and a sitting bench by the door would be great. I like cabinets to the ceiling in the kitchen. It doesn't take long to wish for more space after you have lived in it for a while. Enclosing the back of the carport would be better for me. Some privacy. My thoughts if it were mine. I love the high ceiling and one story .this is my kinda home

I really love this home. My husband and I built our bardo in 2013. It was a 2bd1bth 1200 sqft home and it cost us roughly $100,000. We did much of the work ourselves minus slab, sheetrock, cabinets, floors . Two year ago we added a third bedroom and another bathroom at a cost of $65,000. So all together I'd estimate we're in the $165,000-$175,000 range for a 3bd, 2bth 1600 sqft bardo BEFORE bidenflation for those who've asked. My home recently appraised at $299,000.
@thomaserhardt27322 жыл бұрын
Definitely desire to go this route but sadly seems to be as costly as traditional homes if you’re not just making a pole barn with no room structure/design interior. Toss in the lack of financing options and you may as well seek traditional financing for a low square foot house. I think until more companies that build livable barndos start creating competitive pricing and the market starts providing financing for them I’ll just be dreaming

So I've watched some of your videos on costs to do like a shop build out... I believe you said about $40 to $45 a sq ft. I would bet some of us might be interested to know what $75 a sq ft would get us? Like for example, what would the price per SQ ft look like with 40x80 barndo, 9 ft ceilings, 16 ft walls, one 14 ft roll up door on the shop, with half (40x40) being basic insulated and wired shop, nothing fancy, and the other half (40x40) being a 2 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath, open floor plan (large pantry, large living room, and laundry/mud room). Basically I want to see what I can get the shell, basic insulation, slab, windows, doors, wiring, plumbing, and floor plan framed in for. No sheet rock, no trim, no cabinets, no countertops, no appliances, no showers, no flooring, no fans, no lighting, no interior really at all besides the floor plan framing. Just be clear, looking for the price per SQ ft.
@kathleenhahn45182 жыл бұрын
Yes that would great if they told the price of something like that for just the shell and for it completely done, start to finish, turn key ready...

Umm you're way off. It might cost them 45-75 per sqft to build but they charge 150-170 per sqft. They said so in another comment Edit: I miss understand. A shop might be 45 a sqft but they said a fully finished house like this was 150-170.
@ericdraven71852 жыл бұрын
It probably cost them far less than half of what they will charge you... in another video he says like $160-$180.. or even more a square foot. Your going to spend a fortune on one of these... and it don't even come with a basement or a garage.... If you want both of those in a house like the one in this video your probably going to be spending between 300k-400k
