Charlie, quick tip, in houses like this one that have good access to the attic, I’d really love and appreciate if you could include that in the video. I know you’re trying not to make videos too terribly long but that would be super helpful to visualize how much space is up there for storage. Great video as always!

Would love to see it decorated bc as a graphic designer who has a pretty good eye for design details and was once wanting to be an interior designer and architect, I'm not seeing the vision for some of these homeowner's design choices. The way they are built with all metal roofs and sides, those places are going to be around for A LONG time. Look at the 150-200 year old tin-roofed and sided barns that were just built and never maintained that are still standing to this day. Some were maintained and kept up and they're in much better shape, And the metal used on these should last longer. It's cool what they are doing with these buildings today.

I see too many double hung windows. When my customers asked why I liked casement windows so well, my response was, “ would you design in sliding windows / doors in a submarine?” They leak folks. Double hung windows have 8 sides of two windows that have to be loose enough to “slide”. Just imagine a twenty mile an hour wind pushing cold air ( winter) or hot air ( summer) in around those 8 sash sides. On the opposite side of the home heated air ( or cooled air ) will be leaking out of the house. Consequently you will have to pay to reheat or re-cool all that air that is leaving your house. I started building energy efficient building and solar homes back in 1981. No longer building at 78 but still do a little designing. What air you have conditioned ( heated or cooled ) keep it or pay for it over and over and over!

Meh. Nice job overall, but several features (at least for me) are a waste of space and money. The Bar, Wine Room, Wet Island and the kitchen is too compact. Also, the last two houses I have had built I completely omitted bathtubs. If you don't have small children, then tubs are a waste. I stopped having 'baths' when I was six or seven. There's literally no advantage to your barndos over an ordinary house.
@socalfritos94526 ай бұрын
There is literally many advantages. It’s typically much cheaper per sqft to build. The interior layout is infinite my easier to modify without having to consult a structural engineer because the weight of the frame is all carried on the perimeter vs through interior weight bearing walls and exterior walls like a traditional house build. That’s to name a few.

Are you concerned about high winds/tornados? Also, did you check out the resale value in case you had to leave in five years?
@pakviroti36165 ай бұрын
@@josephpaul7280 There are minimum wind load ratings for all structures that are intended for residential use. These buildings are quite strong. Considering how fast this building style is being adopted, resale value should not be an issue for a well maintained structure. The shells, basically the structure, are cheaper and faster to build, require a lot less maintenance and are impervious to insects tile termites.
