No shame about ABBA!!! I listened to the CD of ABBA's greatest hits constantly as a child and they will always have a special place in my heart. Queen is one of the best bands ever. ⚠️ Vinyl collecting can be as addicting as books lol. Especially when you start finding some second hand treasures! I read Alone with You in the Ether this month as well, and its the easiest five stars I've given in awhile. I am so glad I own it andcan't wait to reread and annotate one day, too. I'm on a waitlist on libby for Pineapple Street. I just finished The Last Tale of the Flower Bride (physical library copy) and I loved Azure's POV. The husband was okay. But overall, I loved the lushness of the prose and enjoyed reading it. I felt uncomfortable with some of the ending.

I think this is going to be the first time that we are going to disagree. Lexi, I'm happy for you that you liked alone with you in the Ether but to me I hated that book; and I just adore the atlas six, so this was shocking. As a research student myself it was not at all well researched. The guy felt like he was blabbering the first thing that came to his head whenever he got high and called it research and that rubbed me off in a really wrong way. PhD is no joke and that is definitely not how research work especially very mathematical one. After that I had a hard time being convinced by anything. Their love story felt extremely insta lovey to me. The only likeable character for me was the dad. As for the last tale of the flower bride, I had no idea what I was getting into so I didn't had any expectations but it was sooo deceptively clever. You see the perspective of a man losing his rationality as he was in love with his wife but slowly discovering her past and being conflicted with his emotions of what he believed his wife to be and what she really was. The creepy eery feeling of the house and her aunt were so well done mixed with Roshani prose, it was delightful. Reading about the toxic friendship was just so incredibly unnerving that I couldn't stop reading. I kind of wish the end to be a bit darker than it was. I thought the second chance was a bit too easy but I loved the mysteriousness of the book and reading it was such an experience that I couldn't put it away. I'm sorry for the essay 🫣

I had very similar feelings about The Last Tale of the Flower Bride, and I agree it wasn't marketed that accurately. I really liked it, but there were definitely moments that made me sad in a not so fun way, but I think that was the intention so it didn't effect my overall feelings about it too much. It was a strange reading experience though lol
