I always take the dust jacket off and keep it off until I’m done
@AnitaLibrary2 күн бұрын
I’m inclined to try it…but the thought of doing so is making me anxious lol maybe I can try it at home. But if I’m packing it in my work bag, the jacket is coming!
@literarylayer2 күн бұрын
@ that makes sense. I usually read at home. If I was out and about I’d want to put it back on.

Becoming was so good. Definitely go back & get it. Finding Me by Viola Davis is a must read memoir as well. I get most of my books from the library, so dust jacket stays on. 😆 I love your book nook!
@AnitaLibrary2 күн бұрын
I will! I am really looking forward to it. I just read a Finding Me a couple of weeks ago and I agree it was excellent. That’s kind of what got me into wanting to read more memoir as of late. And ah see the library has those covers on good and tight lol you don’t have to worry about anything happening to it.

I love your hair! 😍 I LOVED Model Home-it was in my top 10 list of 2024. I have Little Rot on my kindle and I think I’m reading that next.
@AnitaLibraryКүн бұрын
Aw thank you!! I’ve heard nothing but great things about it but I’m still like 15% scared of it being classified as a “horror”. I’ve got to see what Little Rot is talking about lol I’m SO intrigued. I look forward to seeing your thoughts on it on your channel 🤗

@ not a spoiler but I don’t think model home is scary in the traditional sense-it’s more eerie. Trust me, I’m a huge scaredy cat 🤣

Thank you for sharing some Non-fiction books. I like to mix my TBR with both Fiction and Non-fiction reads.

That’s great! I find myself getting into nonfiction more frequently now. I’ve been reading 1-2 a month and really enjoying it.

Listen…Becoming…that was a 5 star read for me last year. I really enjoyed the audiobook with her narration, it made it all the more real. Strongly recommend! Also, I definitely feel you on the instant gratification of buying a new book that you know won’t be read for awhile. I just need to see it on my shelf 😂
@AnitaLibrary2 күн бұрын
I have got to get my hands on that one sooner rather than later. And I love when memoirs are narrated by the author *chef’s kiss*. And yesss you get me! Lol I want it “just in case” 🙃 so it’s ready when I’m ready lol

Little Rot is “different” but was a 5 star read for me! I will read any and everything the author puts down. They are one of those authors that can write in any genre and I love that about them.

Depending on what I’m reading I may remove dust jacket if taking book in public. Most times I leave it on.

Thoroughly enjoyed Becoming, I have not read The Light We Carry. You might like Born a Crime by Trevor Noah

I would definately check the used/thrift store for Michelle Obama Becoming. I always see several copies when i go. I love Non-Fiction and Memoirs. I have been taking the sleeve off when reading hardbacks.
@AnitaLibrary3 күн бұрын
Ooh great suggestion, thank you! I never check nonfiction when I go to used bookstores but I’m sure they might have it since it’s so popular. See I’d tape it down before I take it off lol idk why!

Hey nice haul diggin your Barnes bag of books I renew in March hopefully that color will still be available. I received “James” for Christmas 🙌🏾 started reading and kept the book jacket on for abt 2mins😂. On Becoming by Michelle Obama she did a Netflix documentary it was really good so the book has to be 🔥 😊. Enjoyed watching your channel in 2024 and will continue to watch 😊
@AnitaLibrary2 күн бұрын
Oh I nearly forgot that we can get a new one each year! I have excitement lol ahhh I was gonna get James for the hardcover sale as well but that table was CLEARED out! I just know it’s gonna be good. And I’m gonna have to try this dust jacket off thing like you all lol. Oh yea if they made a documentary alongside it, it must hit pretty well. It’s definitely an anticipated read. Thank you so much for your support, Tara! Happy new year 🤗🥳

Model Home is not a typical haunted house. I read a lot of horror and this is very lightly horror, almost more literary thriller. I don’t think you will be too scared by the haunting/ ghost parts.

I don't like political social issue type books because they're so one sided. The author's main objective is to sway a person to their side and to create upset readers into becoming activists based on their anger & resentment. I want to read for fun. Something to pull me out of things going on in my own life, not to take on someone else's upsets.
@AnitaLibrary2 күн бұрын
That’s a very fair take. I don’t just pick up books looking to be swayed or convinced to adopt someone else’s opinions or perspectives as my own. I just find their take interesting and enlightening to say the least. And no, they’re most often not “kick your feeties up” kinds of reads lol but I do find some level of enjoyment in the reading experience.
