Picked it up launch weekend. Haven't done much reading, yet. but feel like it's a step up from using my phone. Got it primarily for manga and light novels, and so far, no complaints. The fact that, if I need a book, I can buy B&N books directly without going to web is a great feature. No complaints so far, except battery, but to be expected for a "tablet", and its standby time is amazing. (all data off + power saver = no battery usage when not in use). Picked up a 3rd party cover, similar to the official, and its been nice as well. Loaded in a custom launcher, however, so I can customize the home screen much more, and I've had zero problem accessing or finding what I need. Can even use the B&N app to order from the cafe while I read at their store :)

Sounds like a great solution for you. And yeah, imagine the same tablet, but with a 1000 hr battery. Maybe a few years down the road 🙂

@AskDaveTaylor standby is easily over a month if not in use. With use I read for about 2 to 3 hours with only about 3%. So days of reading. Yes I disabled many of the nifty android features and keep the data connections off when not in use, and battery saver is always on. But battery life is pretty amazing. And no complaints. Definitely finding myself reading more already

Thanks for this video. I have watched it twice and will probably do so again. I just upgraded to this device from the 7" NOOK which I only used for reading. This is a world of difference. At first, I was dismayed but now am excited. I used to watch Netflix, but it stopped working on that device. And so did LIBBY. But, both seem to be OK on the Lenovo. One thing right off the bat that I don't like is that there is simply not enough room on the home screen. There are some default apps I would like to remove, but can't figure that out.

I had the old Nook+ color.. I know, very old, but I loved it. I was able to get books from Amazon that would load right to the Nook. Is this new one still able to do this? I will be getting this new Nook soon before the $30 credit from B&N for my old one expires.

Got this when they EoL'd my 2012 NOOK HD+. Less screen space but at least up-to-date, though I cannot seem to be able to crossload epub files where the Nook app can see them. With basically no bezel, it is too easy to trigger a page turn by accidentally touching the edge of the screen, so it's not real well designed for an e-reader. Mine also seems to have issues with maintaining its wi-fi connection, but it's hard to pin down. I should bring it to a B&N store and see if it happens there (where someone can see it). My customer experience is 6.5 out of 10 for this device.
@AskDaveTaylor7 ай бұрын
Thanks for the feedback. I can see what you mean about the accidental page turns, though I haven't experienced it myself. I wonder if a different style of case might mitigate that (there are tons of generic 9" cases on Amazon). In terms of your wi-fi, definitely experiment with different networks to see if it's a tablet problem or a wi-fi network problem. Good luck!

I am looking into purchasing the 9" Nook tablet. I mostly use mine for watching KZbin (and reading books). Is there a YT app on the new Nook, and can YT videos be accessed on this tablet? BN rep just told me no. Google says, "Yes." Does anyone know, please? Thanks! Dec. 10, 2024

While the physical device is the same, B&N adds its own custom software on the branded Nook version. Still, you should be able to get most of the software, including the Nook ebook reader. Did you try all of the various Nook apps in the Google Play Store? You could also take it in to a local B&N if you have one and ask for help...

You would likely have to reprogram this thing down to the kernel. This is pretty risky and you could brick your device (with no way to repair it after doing so). I wouldn't recommend it.

how many books can the nook hold?

Depends on the configuration and storage capacity, but an ebook is typically only 2-5MB in size. 1GB should therefore hold at least 100 books!

@@chrisripley8196 The format of the files didn't change. And if they did change the file type it would be a situation where B&N would need to conduct the update on their end and provide that to their customer without the customer needing to do anything. I think you're thinking of it like a video game console (where new consoles aren't backwards compatible with old console games). That's simply not the case here.
