Good to experiment to find best spine, point weight, arrow weight, and arrow velocity, that gives the best accuracy, penetration, and adequate velocity to make a lethal hit before they can significantly change the point of arrow impact out of the kill zone.

Nice kurt dog glad to see ya like that bow I seen it and said I bet kurtdog will love that bow and nice doe meat in the freezer
@Kurtdog632 ай бұрын
Thanks for the suggestion. I did not know a new model was out. I extended all the foot stirrups out so they fit a normal foot size now. It has a lot more power than the old Recruit for sure.

Awesome! I have a recruit recurve and recruit compound....for some reason i always seem to take the recurve out 😂 keep the videos coming! Love how youve sniffed the fairy dust!

Dr. Ed Ashby and "Ranch Fairy" Troy Fowler have a lot of factual test data to support their arrow lethality. I am still sniffing.

@Kurtdog63 agreed! Any tips on where to start with my recruit recurve? Was thinking 525 to 550 would be a good number
@Kurtdog632 ай бұрын
@@scottdeline Those are good arrow weights for penetration, however, you may only be shooting about 200 fps with the Recruit. If you divide 200 fps by a reaction factor of 12, that gives you a range of about 16 yards and you will need to aim lower 1/4, or about 4 inches up from the bottom of the deer's rib cage. If the animal drops 6 inches before arrow impact, your hit will be high, but still in the kill zone. I would limit shots to 15 yards or less or go with a lighter arrow that will give you arrow speeds of at least 230 fps. Try to keep arrow weight above 450 gr. There is always a trade off between arrows that penetrate, and arrows that get to the target animal before it can SIGNIFICANTLY react and take the arrow impact out of the kill zone.

Congratulations on your doe
@Kurtdog632 ай бұрын
Thank you. Doe's are easier to drag out, better to eat. They are also good test subjects for different arrow/broadhead setups. The more doe you have under your belt, the better chances are you will make a an educated optimum shot placement if a buck you like comes by.

Nice kill! I actually got my best buck year before last with the blackcat, but then I used a killer instinct bone collector 405 will amazing success last season. Being apart of several Facebook groups and I’m seeing sooo many crossbow limbs blow up or splinter this season….I might have to get this crx just for reliability sake…I’d love an Excalibur but don’t love their prices lol
@Kurtdog632 ай бұрын
Yes. Affordable and very powerful. I don't have enough time shooting it to say how durable it is gonna be. It helps to shoot heavier arrows. Light arrows are fast, but hard on all crossbows I think.

I tested my current broadhead on a straight plastic fletch aluminum arrow and it shot fairly well, however, when I added a lighted nock, the FOC dropped and the arrow de-stabilized in flight and was all over the place. I took vanes off and put helical feathers on, sub 2 inch group at 20 yards with traditional broadhead.

On your wildcat can you tap your arrow down in the front
@Kurtdog632 ай бұрын
I noticed some arrow tray/rail seating issues on both the Blackcat and Wildcat CRX. It appears that even though the front of the arrow has a small gap below the arrow shaft towards the front of the arrow, the arrow seems to be seatied enough toward the rear that it doesn't seem to effect accuracy? I did put a second set of toothbrush bristles over top the arrow attached to the pic rail below the scope. Also keeps the arrow from rattling around during transport.

I go ahead and skin and quarter it out and put it in a sled. Skin comes right off warm. With that set up you could keep a ice chest on board and just pack it in depending on how far you are away from home
@Kurtdog632 ай бұрын
Weather is still warm and the flies are really bad right now. Glad I heard it go down. Deer can spoil in warm weather pretty quickly.

I sent mine back after about 50 shots the cheap ass serving they use blowed off the cable exposing the bare cable. The scope sent with it is the biggest next to nothing I’ve ever looked through. Barnett could do better.
@Kurtdog632 ай бұрын
I lube my rail A LOT AND OFTEN. I use chapstick, about every ten shots. I guess cables need lubed too? I don't like the compound crossbows because so much can go wrong.
@briankinzer41752 ай бұрын
@@Kurtdog63 yeah but this wasn’t an issue due to me not waxing the cables I mean the bow comes with it in the box. I used it before and after every shooting. It only blowed apart right where the cable latch hooks on. The bow is nice and light but they cheaped out on the scope and the cable. Maybe that’s why the replacement cables are 30 bucks 🤷🏻 ether way that could cost a man a deer and leave me walking back to the truck pissed. I’ll stick to my old reliable compound 😊.
