I have some rotten 6x6 posts set into concrete into the ground I need to repair on my 24x30 pole barn. It looks like all the concrete for the posts were poured first, then later a concrete slab was poured over the top of the footings, there is about 4-5" of slab on top of the footings. This presents a lot of concrete to breakup to get the old post completely removed. If I cut off and removed the rotten section, filled the hole with new rebar and concrete, then drilled/installed these U brackets and added new 6x6 post would that be sufficient?

Just liked and subscribed. Considering the membership. Good stuff 👍☀️ Meaning absolutely no disrespect, do you offer any discounts for Military Veterans? No way to know without asking. Enjoy your weekend, have fun and stay safe 🙏

Looked at your website for brackets and couldn’t find a listing for hardware. Do you carry the brackets you show here?

Yes, they can be found here... www.barngeek.com/Barn-Hardware.html

Why are you drilling and installing the anchors on a angle?

Why not use J bolts in a template, set into the concrete when its poured?.. to avoid drilling...

@@nc3826 J bolts are stronger but always get bumped or placed in the wrong spot. Trust me, after 49 years of building things, you want the flexibility of an expansion anchor. It also makes pouring your foundations fuss free.

Since you're mostly agreeing with me, what is there to trust? So it's fine, you prefer to work with more costly and time intensive expansion anchors and is fine too... most guys paid by the hour would... BTW, Us engineers, know even guys with 49 years of building "things"... still bump and misalign the J bolts... that why god invented hammers....

@@nc3826 I don’t get paid by the hour, I own a design build company you arrogant bastard lol, if you truly are and engineer your attitude makes sense. You have no common field experience

@@nc3826 the construction type has a lot to do with it. These barns are built on pier footings which means you are just digging holes and filling them with concrete. They are made big enough so that layout is not an issue. There is no real reference to measure off of to install J bolts. So having the flexibility to use wedge anchors allows you to do the layout after the concrete has set and you can mark on it. J bolts are mainly used in monolithic slabs where you have form work to measure from. We also use bolt layout templates nailed to the forms. You engineers do not get out of your offices enough really. I run into this a lot with architects and engineers who draw pretty pictures but have no clue how to build things. And I worked for a large architecture firm and became an associate there so I understand the culture quite well. I detailed all the drawings because they needed someone who knew how things were built.
