I'm so glad you suggested this to me! Once again the music pairs perfectly with the video. I look at these old barns and can envision all the action they must have seen, before the land owners dragged their tired bodies inside the house, after a hard day's work. Feels just like home!

I've got a piece of Black Locust from a hundred year old barn. I count about 45 rings to the inch. This tree grew in the close shade of other trees its whole life - that's difference between Old Growth and tree farm wood. It makes beautiful handles for my stitching awls.

My daddy built barns for 60+ years. I'm not sure who taught him but his name Clois Pitt is known to most all farmers in this area. The fired tobacco smoking for many counties have had his hands on them. He can read but his writing not so well but he can figure a barn top to finish in his head. He retired 3 years ago at 80. Irish ancestors and the old way of life. By the way my granny was surprised by having a twin so his sister is Lois and he got the name Clois with no middle name.

Used to be an Octagonal barn between Johnson City and Erwin. And I knew of a barn built out of Chestnut, Walnut and oak with beams that were 18 to 24 inches thick . It was a great old barn ,the last time I saw it about 15 years ago it was slowest being surrounded by subdivisions.

Love these old barns along Highway 58, especially the first one (the old horse barn), which has always been my favorite one to see. I just wish the owner could restore it and not let it ruin.

Well said Lisa! I will say that when I was filming the see rock city barn , a very old man that owned the park pulled up in a very old farm truck and gave me the complete story of how all the barns were painted. He was so amazed by the drone I was using and warned me to tell any neighbors that he had given me permission to tell the story
