Tom hit nail on head, i have thought the same about cosgrove since last season, why isnt anybody working with him on training pitch, got stead on coaching staff, pines, earl, roberts to practice against, use your body to win free kicks, doesnt seem like he knows how to use his size to his advantage

Watching the show on the TV,much better to see and hear you all. Great and accurate, honest analysis and criticism of the team. Darrell Clarke talks a good shift,but his performance is lacking.I agree that the team has no pattern or plan ,confusion reigns. We don't need to play 5 at the back,as we don't have any wing backs. A back 4 of Lofthouse, Roberts, De Givirney and Earl. Then have a 3 /4 midfield, 2/3 upfront. Cotter needs to play further forward. Everyone said that distribution from midfield last night was poor. What was the point of signing Connor? He is still able to distribute the ball well,or did last season for Derby. Is there conflict behind the scenes? In his interview after the game, Clarke said he was still trying to find and make connections on the pitch. He has taken on the title of "Tinker Man". One of the problems at the moment is that the club, supporters, coach, believe we are better than we are, and don't understand why they are not winning games easily. Unless he develops some ability to organise a consistent plan of play,the team will continue to struggle. Great show and nice to see Tom again. My prediction for the game is: Barnsley 1 - Wycombe 1. Great point, what is our style, how are we trying to score goals. I have no idea, we just seem to be tinkering around, and I’m not sure that everybody knows what they should be doing, for example if we are playing it long then we need to get players around the target man for the second ball. Against Stockport why try and defend when that is not exactly our strength. I do like three centre backs with wing backs, which I disagree with Craig on, but I do agree we don’t have the wing backs at the moment. I also agree we need to get Phillips the ball in advanced positions, he was a passenger in the second half. Stockport deserved the point, but we need to be better with the lead, we all knew we needed that second goal as we can’t rely on our defence, but we never really went for it. We were forever giving the ball away again and again. Wycombe looks like another tough game and we have already dropped 7 points at home in 4 matches. I am going for an optimistic Desmond, 2-2

I don’t like DKD & Adam being out wide where they’re not involved enough - it means we have a line striker (which I personally don’t like) with no one near him. I also like 3 CBs

From a stockport viewpoint I came into the match hoping we would turn up and give it a good go ....as it was we started slow and could have been more than 1 down ( I wasn't totally convinced about the penalty and having watched the highlights am still not convinced ) as the game wore on you were playing more on the break which surprised me and it became a matter of if we could create and finish a chance which we managed. So overall a good evening under the lights albeit with a 6/10 performance ...a lot of new players still getting use to each other so we will get stronger ...loved the ground brought back memories

Barnsley 2 Wycombe 2 . Lets face it we are now a league one town and club, the owners do a brilliant job keeping the club afloat on limited resources. We now have a team of some good league one standard players . Im sure they dont go out meaning to play badly and they all need time for the mananger to gel them together . Everyone wants instant success these days but its not as easy as that, so we need to hang in there and hopefully in time things will improve, but its going to be really difficult for our little old town to become an established championship club again. Normally I’m pretty philosophical about the Reds results after 60 odd years but last night was different - we were dreadful in some many ways. Some of which I put down to the players and some down to the coaching staff. Some thoughts: - I agree with Craig that if Clarke insists on playing Phillips, he has to sacrifice a centre back and play him at the head of a midfield diamond, where he can be his most effective. - I disagree with Al that we have the best midfield in the league. We may have the best players but they are not effective as a unit. Phillips was invisible in the 1st half and a liability in the 2nd, leaving Connell & Craig overrun. - Cosgrove is not and never will be a the target man we need - he is simply not strong enough and spends the majority of his involvement on his backside. - I feel sorry for Marsh because his strength is in and around the box but the ball is very rarely there. He created one good chance late on. He needs a target man who can put him in. - the only players rating 7/10 were Cotter, De Gevigne, Slonina & Benson (who should surely start on Tues) - I am concerned about the overall fitness of the squad. Our intensity seems to drop off a cliff after an hour. - not sure DKD’s best position is upfront. He is better with more involvement in the build up play. - Roberts is not the experienced leader we all hoped he would be. - who is telling the team to play long? Is it Clarke or are the players taking it upon themselves? - few defences in L1 are at a level to defend one goal leads, especially for 45 mins. As you can tell, I’m not a happy chappy. Thankfully we have a game on Tues but I have to say I’m not very confident

I’ve just watched the game in its entirety, Dean, & I honestly didn’t think we were as bad as done (not you) are saying in the cold light of day. I don’t especially like playing with one up front & 2 out wide to support (Keillor-Dunn & Phillips) - they are good players who need to be much more involved in a game. I’m back for the Wycombe game with my loaning brother, so it obviously has to be v Wycombe- I’m expecting a lot of moaning😊

Being overly critical, watching both teams, our passing play was nowhere near as fluent as Stockport's We made one or two, then third went astray. The Hatters passed more accurately and fluently without error. Our only saving grace was that their finishing wasn't up to scratch. A definite penalty gave us the advantage, and it wasn't our good play, after that, that kept us ahead. When the equaliser came, it was deserved, and, in the end, a draw was the best that we deserved. Great show lads my take on the game is after the pen we need to push for the 2nd and 3rd goal and kill the game off we are not good enough to defend for 70 mins also thought we should have had a other pen late on with lofthouse but refs don't give 2 pens to same team very often Tues I'm off 2 -1 to the reds

Another superb show once again fellas and it's good to see Tom with you .I wanted to comment on here that Andy you missed a classic match last night with the Barnsley of old playing lovely pass and move football but in all honesty Andy as Alan Craig and Tom have all said and I fully agree with them all it was dire especially the second half and unfortunately I love Darrell Clarke's honesty but at the present moment I'm finding him very much like Nigel Spakman was he talks a good game but the performances don't back it up yes we sit 5th in the league table at present but the performances don't back up that position except for the Crawley away game and my prediction for Barnsley v Wycombe Wanderers is Barnsley 3-1 Wycombe Wanderers please Andy

A lot of the problems were self inflicted...Earl needs reminding that he's not Paul Brietner...MDG often won the ball and then got himself into trouble... When the opposition press our defenders, they need to get shut of the ball a lot quicker, which would be a lot easier if players in front of them found space...Phillips tendency to disappear in games can be rectified by playing him in a position where he's more dangerous, which isn't out wide... Cosgrove needs to break out of a trot once in a while...Fans won't accept many more repeats of yesterday's performance... Whatever team selection and formation, fans want to see players giving everything for the cause... That would be a good start.

Not much to say about satdi, wet performance, 1 thing I will say is I'm fed up seeing o'keeffe on the left, understand it's because gent isn't ready yet but it really unsettles our balance, too many times shifting on to his right foot stifles our attacking outlet, too many times he could play a cross on it but opts to play it backwards, it just doesn't work, unlike Lofthouse he's not quick enough to get into an affective passing or crossing situation that pushes us further up field or create a threat. I'm not looking forward to tonight, I get Wycombe has changed a lot this season but feel we're in for much of the same that we get from them. I'll be as optimistic as can be and say a 1-1 draw, Emz is in agreement it'll be the same. Olivia is more positive, predicting with the sage Mr Symcox for a 2-1 win and Aalaya agrees with that assessment for a 2-1.

Great preview as always. What a shocking display, especially in the second half performance. Unforgivable! Can't string 2 passes together and hopeless long balls to nobody. If we are going to succeed this season in promotion then we need to be so much better keeping the fecking football. Its completely wasteful and I'm sick of it. What is Clarke doing about it? All talk but I don't see anything improving. This is not the first time this season this is happening. I'm going to keep positive still with a win because performance needs to be better otherwise Clarke will be on the chopping board if this continues. We all know Barnsley fans can turn very quickly. A draw was a fair result against Stockport, I’d have taken it but on reflection Clarke has to look at the way he’s perceived in interviews. There’s a long way to go, and there’s many ways we can fit these players together (I have my doubts about whether we have the full-backs that could play 4 at the back though) but we have to get the ball down and use the midfielders like DKD and Phillips in attack. Anyway I'm predicting a 2-1 win to Barnsley, I think we might just scrape it aslong as Darrell Clarke and the coaching team get the tactics right. Im not just going to blame Darrell Clarke and the players, but also the coaching staff aswell because it's a team game and their all responsible for the result and the outcome of the players performance on that pitch imo. Coaches as they train them how to play and perform in the right way , Darrell Clarke being the manager and making the tactical decisions and the players with how they perform. Therfore they are all to blame and need to take more responsibility, enough said. I still believe we will somehow scrape a 2-1 home win 🙏🤞. Come On You (Super) Reds BFC 🐶❤️🔴⚪️⚽️.

Wow, where do i start? I have been badly since friday (got sent home from work) with a flu or some kind of bug , so i still wasn't up to going to the Barnsley match yesterday as i still felt rather badly , but went for the sake of some fresh air see if it would help and do me any good and to support Barnsley FC. However I'm still not 100% at the minute though and especially not after sitting and watching that perform yesterday at Oakwell. I felt dreadful anyway to begin with before the match, but that performance was dreadful itself imo. I mean yet another woeful performance and very disappointing result overall. First half we looked like we were more on top of them , but the second half it was like someone had spiked our players drinks at half time as not one of our players showed up for the second half , it looke to me like all of our players had been driking booze at half time with that second half performance. I agree with craig on barry cotter , he put in a average performance losing the ball , not making many crosses, taking a risk with his stepover skill which could potentially have lost us more possession yet again e.t.c. at least when okeefe gets past the opposition he doesn't attempt to do them stepovers and finds other ways to get past the opposition, well from what i have seen anyway as i can only speak for myself and from what i have seen. Although i agree with Craig about Cotter, unfortunately Jalo is not the answer imo because we have Cosgrove who can't jump and win headers in the air, also he is slow and sluggish when in possession of the ball , Marsh is same as Cosgrove apart from the headers to sluggish and slow when in possession of the ball , only differnce between him and Cosgrove is that Cosgrove is struggling to jump and win the ball in the air with headers while Marsh gets knocked off the balll to easily for me and their both two slow and sluggish when they have possession of the ball, but jalo is not the answer for me because again marsh as a bit of pace , but jalo as more pace however jalo for me is too small like ,marsh and gets shoved off the ball far too easy. Just like marsh i am yet to see jalo score for us at Oakwell, I can't remember the last time i saw him score. I could be wrong about that , but i don't remember him scoring for us this season or probably last season, i think i vaguely remember him scoring one goal at Oakwell for us last season, ,but as harsh as it might sound he's a striker with a lot of pace and shouldn't be shoved off the ball too easily to prevent him from scoring. I'm happy he didn't bring watters or Russell on aswell, because them subs were bad enough as it was and things could have been worse with them too playing aswell. I think overall a draw was a fair result , but imo he needs to probably try playing Cosgrove and Humpry's upfront together or put jalo on in the first half , then second half about 65 to 70 minutes in brìng on Humpry's for Cosgrove or play DKD in a more central role while playing Phillips in the centre of midfield as he's more of a threat to the opposition there as we saw yesterday apart from the penalty he scored he hardly touched the ball because he wasn't played in the right position imo. Jalo for me though is not the answer, pace or no pace he gets shoved off the ball far too easy for me like marsh does. Imo marsh isn't at the right level to play in the first team , uless he starts to prove me wrong ,but i don't see it happening. I haven't seen Darrell Clarke's interview(s) of the Barnsley VS Stockport outcome and result and I don't intend to, but from what i have heard a lot of Barnsley fans / supporters keep saying he was using the term " loose" too much in all the interviews he did with such as sky tv , radio Sheffield e.t.c. and our fans / supporters were sick of hearing him say the same nonsense every interview he did. I blame the players for not showing up in the second half and not scoring a second goal before half time or in the second half itself and Darrell Clarke for the changes he made in the second half, not good enough. Like my dad said to me and as i was already thinking myself, we need a second goal preferably before half time. Did we get it ? no and then the players , Darrell Clarke and the coaches all thought we should sit back on a one goal lead , passing it back instead of going foward to try score or playing it to the side like crab football yet again. If you play it back and to the side without going foward then how can you expect to score?

This performance raises questions about the quality of our players and Clarke's management too. We had the full week on the training pitch and our performance was very disappointing. We have talked about plan a,b,c and d. We looked like we didn't have any plan at all. And that raises big questions about Clarke and the coaching staff. There's no clear structure to our play. We have to stop talking about the best midfield in League 1. Connell is not the player he was two seasons ago. We have no Hourihane. Craig is being found out when placed under pressure. When the other team presses us, our whole game falls apart. Our whole backline are not comfortable on the ball, so they just hoof it. And that means our two best players (Phillips and Keillor-Dunn) just watch the ball go over their heads. I agree we need to change formation to 4 - 2 - 3 -1 or 4- 3 - 3. We don't have the quality wing backs to play 5 at the back. Humphries half fit is our number one target man. Slonina showed he's a good shot stopper. Cotter keeps working hard. Roberts was pretty solid. We don't look like a top6 side. The League is so even. We could finish anywhere between 6th and Gab's 17th. It looks like today we might finish closer to 17th. Tuesday night will raise the same questions as Saturday. Wycombe will make it tough for us and start favourites at Oakwell with their recent record. 99% of my tips have been for a Barnsley win, so I will go for a 2 - 1 win with absolutely no confidence at all.

My son's U13 team are better at possession than Barnsley ! No exaggeration ! I was embarrased to have asked the pub in London to have put it in the telly. Just sneaked out at the end and pretended it wasnt me 😂 KDD isn't very fast, so we need to move up in numbers at speed and supply him with balls in and around the penalty area. At the moment we are not able to keep the ball long enough to do that, so he's being wasted ! Wycombe have a good away record and after the shocking performance against Stockport I'm going for a 2-1 win to the one and only Wanderers ( just to annoy the Bolton fans 😂).

I think there are big question marks about if this manager is up to the job, too many times we look tactically inept and have thrown away a winning position but worst of all having no self belief to go and put a game to bed, the mentality is try and hang on to a lead somehow it's completely negative and wrong and the buck stops with Clarke and his coaches it's not an acceptable way of playing

Not much to say other than absolute dreadful . Gotta get conor back dont matter over fitness . He be able to pass ball when hes 60 better than these now . Connell got schooled all game . Dkd looks unfit . Cosgrove cannot be a proffesional footballer . Weve had some bad strikers but hes another level . Easy to blame defence but thats only area we see ball for majority of games .. hard to see any improvement for next game .. 1 all draw tuesday

Sorry Al we haven't got the best midfield in the league because they are not showing it, maybe on paper but that dunt win you games, the system lets us down they just can't play it, and yeah stop tinkering, don't think the players know what's expected of them, and that stops with one person the manager, the natives already restless, ni mind it's early doors..time to gel, the signs are there already and they aren't good, play to your strengths and to the players you have, 4 4 2 or it will just get worse 😱😱😱😱

Stendel and Val had a better team and stuck to the system that worked, not changing every game, even twice or even three times a match, noone can be effective if they don't know what there doing doesn't matter what job you're doing, we're in a false position at the moment and we haven't played anybody good yet, stroll on well get a right tonking!! 😮😮
