Barnsley Hayrake Table - Part 1 - Starting the Base

Building this table with few tools requires innovative thinking at times, and in some cases, making our own tools.
In Part 1, we start making the table base. We'll show building up thick leg blanks, hand chopping mortises and making tenons for the stretcher and crossbar of the heel rake. We make a marking gauge for good layout, demonstrate the proper use of the marking knife, and show one way you can make tenons on a table saw.

Yes, Jason, in fact, he felt confident enough to do all M&T joinery on a” cabin bed “ he made for his son. The previous one was all pocket screws! Just a little practice.
