Why did you leave out the diagonals? Now, won't the table will wobble back and forth along the length?

For color, to use in place of stain.

The ammonia fumes under the plastic react with the tannins in the oak and turns the oak a darker color. More time under the plastic exposed to the fumes, the darker the oak gets
