How times have changed, now it's just a procession of Voyagers, 170's, 323's and 66's that pass through my local station, I used to sit on that very up platform in the 70's watching Westerns, Peaks, 50's, 37's and many other great locomotives. Oh for those days again 😫

why is the class 153 turning back at barnt green it supposed to be keeping going to Birmingham new street

Back in those days the Stourbridge line was used for services between Hereford/Worcester and Birmingham New Street as all trains using that line went into New Street. This section of the line was only used by a shuttle between Worcester and Barnt Green which is why the train is going into the siding.

Those four-car class 116 sets must have had a pretty marginal power to weight ratio. I bet they weren't allowed down the Lickey.
