I love this song. My high schools marching band marched this during parades. We always got compliments that we were the only band to play a march.

I absolutely love the audience interaction with this song. The song captures the essence of being at a Barnum and Bailey show 🤯😁

I remember playing first chair euphonium on this in high school, it was one of my favorite pieces we ever played. When we were listening to the recordings of all the pieces at the start of the concert season, I remember our director being so amused by the look of excitement on my face that he pointed it out to the whole band. It truly was a simpler time!

I was supposed to play this for my district honor band. Come to find out, I was one of the only people who could play it. They made first chair and replaced the song so I had no clue what I was doing

I'm an 11th grader rn in HS and I'm in Wind Ensemble. We're learning this song right now and it's my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE because of how it sounds. But.... Since we're starting out, were reading at 4/4 time atm and not cut time. Clarinet 2 part is hard to play up to speed 😭 (I like reading ahead and trying to speed things up to the actually tempo) Update: been a while since we've finished it and played it for evaluations but I still love it. 🐯🎪

I'm playing Clairnet 1 and were starting it out and it will be a while before me and my fellow band member will be able to play at that tempo

@@Randompersonthatcommentss it's such a nice song, but it forces you to control your hands and adrenaline which is hard in a March like this 😭

Karl King the March King wrote hundreds of marches. He lived most of his life in Ft Dodge IA and also led circus bands for many years. There is a bridge named after him in Ft Dodge.

I played this a number of times in my high school marching band. I don't get what the conductor was doing interacting with the audience. It's a tragedy that this band only had one euphonium. As a euphonium/baritone player, I rejoiced in how this piece featured my instrument when so many other pieces relegated it to a supporting role. The last sixteen bars of this march really give the euphonium/baritone section a rare time to shine.
@Mangle_the_Pirate25 күн бұрын
the interaction was to make it feel as if it were a real circus show, the crowd going ooh and ahh at the different acts in the show (clowns, lions, fire breathers, etc)
