@@aquaviii ... Yup, Melon doesn't even have a ring, even after being brought back into the league a couple years ago. It's weird how some people focus saying how Lin did not earn a ring, yet in the 70+ years of the NBA (and also a decade of ABA), there were countless number of players on the bench that deserved their championships just as much as the ones who had more minutes. And he also joined the Raptors mid season (February), he was never with them the whole season. And Lin was also still hampered by his 2017 knee injury in 2019. He has done much better in the CBA since then, as the aftereffects of that injury have pretty much healed & disappeared.

@@nilesmaxwell758 people like you watch/follow the game from a numbers and analytics aspect and don’t take into account the psychological/human factors. There was already high amounts of tension in the locker room. The ball was taken out of Lin’s hands and the offense ran through Melo and Lin lost the backing of the coaching staff. All this happened in a short time. Any sane person experiencing what Lin went through would have hiccups. He obviously had flaws and weaknesses, but who’s to say he couldn’t work on them and develop as a player. Melo coming back was the beginning of the end of winning for that franchise. Yup, Linsanity was 2 months, not 7 games or 2 weeks or whatever. Before Linsanity, the Knicks had 8 of 10 years of no-postseason. After Linsanity, the Knicks only had 1 more good season, as they were riding off Linsanity but without Lin. After that they then again had another long drought of no playoffs for 7 straight seasons, not until 2020-21. If anything, Jeremy's mission in NY was to bring them up to 0.500 to make playoffs again after a long time. Jeremy did similarly at Charlotte 2015-16, which had a majority of no postseasons for a decade before him. And after Lin left, they still have no postseasons straight, even to this day. These days, Jeremy is hooping in his parents' home country, dropping 35, 38 & 50-point etc scores, just like the 38 he dropped as a Knick & as a Rocket.

That's nice, but look at his post-Linsanity career. He got a championship ring with Toronto, a year in which injuries kept him from playing very much at all. What could that ring possibly mean to him? Then no team in the NBA picked him up, even though he wasn't very old. He was an underdog from his high-school years, had a fluke run of insane success, then was sort-of thrown away. I actually feel very sorry for him. I hope his career and life in China is happier.

@@bernardmartin6996 ... "Averaged the most points and assists but no team signed him." -- Isn't that history repeating itself? That was just like the start of his career. So yep, when he went to the minor leagues instead, that was frustrating. How could you send a 10-year long NBA veteran, who captured the world by storm & was on Sports Illustrated cover twice (& Time magazine once), to the minors? And when Lin wasn't called up to the majors during his play in G, I bet management's excuse was his back spasms, which eventually got better. He could have re-joined with Steph Curry again, when they used to be team mates in 2010. That could have blown up & become Linsanity 2.0, now that he was on a winning team. That Linsane hype could have made Golden State even more money, on top of the hype already there. It was a missed opportunity. Sometimes an athlete needs inspiration & motivation, not stats, to start scoring better. He has since been doing better now in the CBA, although I'm unsure if he still has back issues, but it doesn't seem to have affected his game in the past few years. It would be nice to see him back in the NBA again, but time is running out due to his age. If anything, he could possibly return to the NBA much later as a winning coach and/or a winning GM.

@diceup - Yup, him being Asian has a lot to do with it. That KZbin video of him getting fouled hard on multiple occasions and not getting calls was absurd. If he was any other race, he would have gotten better opportunities. The biggest mistake of his career was going to Houston, but it wasn’t even his fault though. Sam Presti from OKC trading Harden early changed the trajectory of Lin’s career. If Harden was never made available, or if he was made available but just much much earlier in the FA process, Lin would have gotten a real shot with another team.

If Lin was a talented young BLACK point guard that ran into that Miami defense and got shutdown, everyone would've rallied around him and helped him get better to continue his NBA journey. Instead, everyone was more concerned about the fame Jeremy attracted and did everything possible to let him continue the NBA journey all by himself. Tell me how the fuck a high IQ veteran point guard like Lin with his skill set, wasn't given a veteran minimum or even a tryout with a team the last 2 years.
