Great to see Christopher "310Baron Pilot"!! 8) I remember watching his channel when he had ~20 subscribers, all the way to the first 4-5 with Kim. Glad to see him doing some in the Lear 60 now, very interesting. I always wondered how he got into a Baron, now we know. LOL 8) --gary

I have such great memories from my initial flight training. It was in 2001-2002 in a 1973 C172 (N20591) with a 180 HP powerplant, constant speed prop and 40 degrees of flaps. I loved that plane. I have not flown since 2007 and probably won't again, but I love those memories. Kim has been flying a lot, but she is going to love her achievements and memories as well. That's just what happens to pilots. Thanks for the video!

That’s sad to hear you won’t fly again. Idk your situation nor is it my business. But a 172 with 180 is awesome. I got to fly a newer one with 180 and glass cockpit. It was like I was in a Lamborghini lol. I can’t imagine combined with a csp.
@terryrutherford2114
@terryrutherford2114 2 жыл бұрын
@@gtm624 I did my Biennial (2007) in a 2005 C172 with a Garmin 1000. It was great, but getting a medical is just too hard now. The old 1973 actually performed better with the constant speed prop. You could almost hover with 40 degrees of flaps and a bit of a head wind. Enjoy flying! I have no regrets. I took my friends and family flying, and my Grandpa that introduced me to flying when I was 3 years old in his C170...51 years ago. Full circle. I let him handle the controls and he did great.
@gtm624
@gtm624 2 жыл бұрын
@@terryrutherford2114 that’s awesome! I actually just saw a 172 for sale with a constant speed prop. I didn’t even know that was a thing on 172s. I mean I guess you can put one on just about anything. But I’m also low time so there’s so much I have yet to experience. I know the medical process can be a lot. But if you had a medical once before you could get a basic med which isn’t so bad. Or Lsa or 103 of you got denied a med. It’s just that I can sense the joy it brought you and I want to see everyone in a place of such joy. Sounds like you are in a good place now. But hey it’s always a little bit better up there. Lol. I made a new friend who has a 182. I can’t wait to fly it. I’ve never flown anything with csp or complex yet. I put down aviation for 10 years myself. But the last year I’ve been like a freight train. I’m giving up my hvac business and going full time into aviation. I can’t wait until every second of my waking moments is immersed in aviation. I fly rc as well. I just love aviation. And like they said. If you do what you love it’s never work. Kris almost had me in tears when he talked about that and being willing to work for free. Got me thinking that I’m going to be there at some point down the road (god willing as said).

Great video. Kristoffer is correct that he doesn't let loose on his videos, at least not like he did here. I enjoy seeing that part of him. Surprisingly, though, I thought Kim was much more laid back than Kris was. Kim, I am looking forward to the upcoming videos about you getting back into training. My father was my CFI, and while I appreciated him doing that, we had some other issues in our relationship, and it spilled over into the training. He also tried to teach my Mom and she ended up with another instructor. She never did get her ticket, but she flourished in training 'outside of the family.' My feeling, and this is only based on my own history, is that if you want to learn how to fly, find a good, highly thought of instructor, who isn't part of the family, and go with that person. If you're training through Sporty's Academy, I think you'll do well. I'd also recommend Jason Miller, except he's in California, so the commute would be a little more difficult. Dan, I hope that after Kim gets her certificate that you'll have her back to talk about what it was like going forward to get it. Kim, one other thing. I'm 64 years old, I've had a life full of medical, emotional and mental issues, and a poor financial history. I can't begin to tell you how fortunate you are. I wish I could be in a position to get current, and pick up my Instrument and Multi ratings. I doubt it'll ever happen, which is why I watch so many flying channels, but you have an opportunity that not enough people have, go for the gusto!

Love the video. I am a big fan of "baron pilot" and "in the hanger." The part where Chris speaks of how Kim's questions in the cockpit added new dimensions to content was spot on. One critique (sorry) Christopher speaks in terms of him WAY to much ("ME and I".) Kim was mostly excluded. Even questions asked of her, Chris weighed in. The first season joke was over played. Being funny is either natural / flows or contrite. I was enlightened to hear they plan to involve Kim with her flight training on video as a different flavor to "their" channel. As someone that follows baron pilot, I will enjoy watching Kim's involvement with aviation. These are really good people that have awesome content. What I am saying is either they are a team or its his show and she is unnecessary. The team / partner should be predominant in interviews and dialog on the channel. Geeze, I did not mean to critique. I like these people and want them do "show" well.

Kim! At least your flight instructor will not consider you just another SAS. (Smart Assed Student). I WAS one. I have never had a HOUR of formal ground school. My lab partner in medical school and I had just finished a grueling exam. Dennis said "let's take a test we both can pass. He took off for the FAA test site. He gave me the questions on rules and regulations. The hooked is that my undergraduate degree is Aerospace Engineering. I spent 4 years learning to design things to fly! I KNOW which controls are used for pitch, yaw and roll. We were an hour and a half late to the test. The proctor "rolled" his eyes when he asked for the IFR (I follow roads) test. He yawed them when he heard that I had NEVER had a minute of ground school. We both finished early. He rolled his eyes as he said better luck next time. We answered in unison. "No need for a next time. We both passed (we did.. ) My flight instructor was a woman around 50. She pitched, yawed and rolled all at once. She almost stalled at taking my money... I guess she was impressed by my first preflight inspection. I guess no other first time student knew what a pitot tube was, where it was and what it did. She was greatly surprised that I knew how to get weather information, had it AND knew how to interpret it (I was flight surgeon for medical flights - many times the helicopter pilots would call to confirm we were NOT flying. They all knew I ALWAYS checked. It saved my life TWICE when other flight surgeons INSISTED on flying. (Flight maxim - there old pilots and there are BOLD pilots. There are NO OLD BOLD pilots She allowed me to "rotate" on the first take off. She asked why I didn't move the yoke. With the plane configured for "slow flight" (full flaps- full throttle- full mixture) I quote someone close to you. The plane WANTS to fly. (this can be problematic when landing!) She allowed me to land as well. The downwind leg was at a mountain that had a cross at pattern height. The trick was to wait until you were "sure" your wingtip would scrape paint as you turned to base leg *THAT is NOT in the engineering books!)? She asked me to make coordinated turns in slow flight. When my altitude had stayed constant, she had me set everything for cruise. THEN she had me setup for slow flight AGAIN. Then she asked me to pull back on the yoke. My response "Did you just get a new stall hirn?" (Yea, the smart assed student appeared again). She was surprised about my radio procedures. I had been a reserve deputy sheriff for 7 years PLUS the help pilots wanted me on a live headset. You have a great advantage there. I am absolutely sure you will sail through everything. Your questions are always clear, concise and to the point. My experience is unique. I was involved in the navigation to the moon and back! I had no GPS to navigate by! We had to fly "to and from radials". We had to have paper copies for all the possible airports along a route. Go with confidence! You are very close to my level when I started. You know what all the instruments do, how to read them and even tell if one is "lying" to you!
