10 months ago I was in a bad car accident and almost lost both my legs. The album Purple was my recovery album and helped me get through physical therapy and being able to walk again. This band has made a huge impact in my life and if it weren't for them I probably wouldn't be able to get through therapy easily.

I saw baroness live last September and it was the best show I've ever attended. I remember feeling very emotional, not necessarily sad or upset just very not in control of emotion at all. I'm 99% sure that I cried when they played this song. Something very strange happened to me that night. Ever since that show it's been so hard for me to listen to Baroness. It just always takes me back to that insanely visceral state of mind where I'm screaming their lyrics and just totally engrossed in the sound. So obviously, for me they're no longer a band I can just listen to casually like I did for so many years. No other band has ever had this effect on me. Period. God bless John and Pete and God Bless Baroness.

So the rule is this: new guys are not allowed any clothes on the stage. Once they participate in the recording of one album, they are allowed to wear pants. Seriously though, the song is great, but I'd prefer live sound with stage footage.

@despicablepaul64268 жыл бұрын
This band are definitely victims of the loudness war currently being waged. Don't they realise we're not all listening on iphones? Sounds just terrible on my stereo.
@johni.60158 жыл бұрын
Most people aren't aware of the loudness war, or own stereo speakers. Technology is always improving, but sound quality ironically, is not compared to the last century. The soundwave forms on this album are as flat as a pancake, no dynamic range at all, no impact. Unfortunately, that's the norm, which is why I don't buy modern albums anymore.
@jackpfiester50138 жыл бұрын
True. You can tell there are some cool bells and whistle going on, production-wise, but it's so smashed to shit it's difficult to discern.

i fail to understand why would anyone want to brickwall a record like this... as you've said, great song, great album, painfully poor audio quality.
@easterdm8 жыл бұрын
I really don't understand why they did this. It cleans up nothing and sounds like I'm listening through a bathroom wall. WTF is going on here?
@CaptPostmod8 жыл бұрын
It's a real bummer. I love the melodies and everything happening musically. But Gods damn, the compression is out of control!
@nickpryme7 жыл бұрын
i think it's just a certain characteristic that adds to the arch behind the song. its one of the more aggressive cuts from the record, so i think the "brickwall"-ish compression adds a little umph to the song and its vibe. could just be my personal opinion, though.
@nathanlh818 жыл бұрын
Funny as hell when all these guys talk about the compression of the album like they're the ones that did the work. Jesus Christ, when is a rain going to wash the hipsters from the world?

I'll bet you all sound so like someone ate your last cupcake." God get over it. Just.. Fucking Stop.... Shit.. it's a great album.... Go listen to some DragonForce or Metallica's Death Magnetic. Whine on their comments. It will be great for them to get comments and for you to discover new whine territory. Everybody wins BARONESS PURPLE ALBUM = Motherfucking awesome!!!!
@n_n_n_n_n_n8 жыл бұрын
So we should get over it because it annoys you? Compression in the music industry is a bigger issue than your feelings. So, I'll continue complaining.

It's a live recording you illiterates! Anyone who gets the fundamentals of mix and matching audio knows that you cannot compress a live audio recording. Uncompressed audios always have worse quality. (for obvious reason I am not going to explain right now...) That's why this video doesn't have so good sound. Simple enough, huh? If you don't like the quality and you can't enjoy the video, support the band and buy their record! Simple enough!
