I've been waiting for this series for a loooong time now, so thanks for starting it. I used to do bicycle touring when I lived in Europe, so I was able to transfer a lot of that knowledge to motorcycle touring, so it wasn't difficult for me.

I always tour in my leathers. I would never trade in their safety-plus for more comfortable textiles. But my leathers feel genuinely nice anyway. They have more than enough pockets for my phone, keys, wallet etc. Although I have to admit that I never toured for more than one week so far. But since I never felt any discomfort wearing them I guess nothing would change for me on a much longer trip. What did you choose in the end? Looks like leathers in your trailer, right? I'm really looking forward to your EURO videos. And you have my biggest respect that you still manage to find some time to edit your footage, especially since you became a dad in the meantime as well. Proper video editing consumes such huge amounts of time. (And to me it's not even fun. Editing is a pain in the arse.)

I had exactly the same debate before going on my first tour down to Gibraltar this year. Decided to go for the leather 2 pc and really pleased I did! Looks like you have similar/the same RST leathers!

Went on a short tour last weekend on a sportsbike and had this exact dilemma 🤣 ended up going full textiles because they weather forecast was solid rain. Was comfortable and dry but didn't look as cool as I could have.

As a do-it-all suit textiles should win. Go on a week long tour anywhere (bar a desert) & you can pretty much count on getting rained on a bit right? But crashing is optional. Saying that I wore 2 piece leathers to tour Scotland for a week in Spring 2012. Bound to rain I thought so I took a waterproof oversuit. 30 degree heatwave every day, never heard "you picked the right time to visit!" So many times.

I love and hate leather clothing. Its great because once it is broken in it is literally shaped to you so is very comfy, but it can be cold, is painful when breaking in, and can be expensive.

Baron, touring in leather? Are you mad? Textile all the way! Take it from someone who's has a bunch of experience in long distance (2up) touring! Here are a few top tips; don't bother with too much clothes, you'll never wear them. Buy a couple (at least two) riding shirts (the dryfit/coolmax type). They are very light, comfortable and dry very fast after washing them. Charging your shit is easy with a 12v socket and a double USB charger. I have many more tips but one I want to share with you is a throttle rocker. It will save your wrist. You can also diy a throttle lock just to give your hand a break on the long stretches!

I can't see how touring on a sport bike can be comfortable regardless of what you're wearing. I suppose all bikes are different, but I get a sore bum and my legs start to ache after about 3 hours. Not sure how far your journey to spain was but I imagine it wasn't very comfortable.

Man watching this is cool cause it's exactly what goes though my mind before a trip. (I chose textiles for comfort). Apart from one thought that I neglected > Tire choice! Dumbass. I rode down to Barcelona with a Pirelli Rosso Corsa on the back, and it did NOT enjoy 2000 miles of straight roads! Ended up having to get a new rear somewhere in deepest darkest France on the way back home.

How odd, I've ridden superbikes and only ever worn 1 piece leathers. 6 weeks ago I bought a Ducati Multistrada 1200S. And I'm wearing full textiles for the first time and I don't know how I would feel touring for more than a day never mind a week+ in full leathers! Why not do the best of both worlds? Leather trousers and textile jacket? They should be able to zip together... My mate did that on his 2 week tour round France on his GSXR 600.
