What a wonderful concert -- as always from Constantinople. I especially liked the Marin Marais excerpts from La Folia. Tanya LaPerrière really got into it. I just emailed a friend about the upcoming Traversées concert in the SF Bay area in May, 2025. Wish I could be there, but I live on the east coast.

I looked at lyrics for this song Chaconne de Sa'di, (Kiya Tabassian) and I'm confused. Could someone loosely translate what this song is about? Something about a beautiful scent of a flower maybe?

Mr Tabassian sings three first verses of a ghazal by Sa’di. Here is loose translation into English : Do not think, my friend, that besides you, anyone can help me, Nor that I am occupied with anything other than thoughts of you, day and night. It is not only I who have fallen into the snare of your tresses, For every strand of your hair entangles another. If I claim that I have no affair with you, Let the walls and the doors testify, there is much that binds me to you.

The music is beautiful, i hope my comment take as friendly criticism not in other way , some term in title and more information is obscure, this music in general have what connection with every masterpiece of European music from monteverdi, c.f.Emanuel Bach ? This may music actually try to reproduce the more earlier direct and and indirect natural connection between middle age connection between east and west , persia , or great iran - not a in political term - have directly and in directly was greater than from ancient times political persian or iranian , I have no interest in any thing that in some way shows what culture is more or less important than other cultures, this is absurd but may be we need for a more fruitful approach for more creative past and perest have a not obscure approach of some of resent western so called orintalist, and also we not close perspective of Easterner, for example what called callasical persian music , rouly calssifd by two brother in Teheran under the Qajar government is only a late version of old tradition going back to different per Islamic music, or what call folk music of iran is in root more pure, in other hand all Islamic persin and Arab , tork phisoper, matmaticain , like Faebi Abu Ali Sana, and ....have great not only great interest in music but write about it great books ....any how I apologize for this long comment and thank all musician in this conesert i hope we especially now need to this coneserts and more to without any form of prudijuce at least try to really understand and know each other and our self , thank too i send a love true love to real istanbul ❤
