Sean, it's hard to do content with restrictions & lockdowns in place. Viewers need to take that into consideration when they watch. Lockdowns & restrictions are driving me insane on the Mid North Coast of NSW. At least the Haltech system is a step in the right direction to preserve your XR6T. I've been helping a mate with his VU SS Ute which now has a Monaro front end & Maloo rear with mods here & there. The next step is to take out the VU Steering Wheel & replace it with a VY one. Another great video for those thinking of the Haltech upgrade.

@MotoringBoxTV2 жыл бұрын
Sure, before it was tuned I accidentally boosted it and it hit engine protection because it ran lean. The way it handled it was amazing though. It cut fuel and ignition for about 5 seconds, then brought 3-cylinders back for another few seconds... before bringing all 6 back and continuing on as normal. All of this was at 100km/h on the highway too.

You should get a turbo side intake, valve springs, oil pump gears, and possibly head studs along with an upgraded fuel system, as yes a Haltech in a somewhat stockish car is absolutely overkill.
@MotoringBoxTV3 жыл бұрын
I've mentioned before why I'll never go for a turbo-side intake, but it will be copping valve springs. With the pump gears or head studs it's sort of a question of where do you stop. Being a BA you'd have to do the conrods and pistons as well to make it all worthwhile. So I'm sort of sitting on the fence.

Hi Sean, great video and I'm looking forward to more on your elite pro because I would like to eventually build/convert to a g6e turbo 1 tonne ute with the RTV clearance and wider track and locking diff. Could I suggest for another episode idea a "quick fix" for replacing the heater rod that often breaks when you refit the head unit. I say quick fix because most fixes online require removing the dash and steering wheel (urghhh). I was hoping with your super powers of investigation and vast industry contacts you might find a simpler way and it would be and episode many ba - fgx falcon owners would search for. Just a suggestion😉

I can't find in the documentation anything about it retaining the original immobiliser system at all(and it doesn't look like the software has a way to write a PCM-BEM link at all), you or anyone else daily driving one of these may wish to consider the implications of this being stolen with an aftermarket ECU which bypasses the original immobiliser security, insurance companies do so love to find a way to not pay out.
@scottbrewster40325 ай бұрын
Hi Sean, Did you install the Haltech HT-154000 or the HT-154006 with the Haltech Onboard Wideband sensor kit and is this Wideband necessary with just a standard engine and do you know where the Wideband end plug goes, as original Ford plug only has 4 wire plug that seems to go behind drivers side engine bay firewall. Thanks
@MotoringBoxTV5 ай бұрын
Mine was the 154006 with the wideband kit included. A wideband isn't strictly necessary, but I think you'd be crazy to get a Haltech and then not run one. The kit includes all the wiring for the wideband - it wires directly into the Haltech and bypasses the original Ford plug.
@scottbrewster40325 ай бұрын
@@MotoringBoxTV Ok Thanks, I didnt see you installed it on the video. Regarding when you first intstalled the Haltech with the Base Map Tune, is it the same tune roughly as the original Ford ECU, as mines all standard and just want it to drive normally and dont rev the guts out of it and just want it for a daily drivers, so will this base tune work ok for what Im using it for. Thanks
@MotoringBoxTV5 ай бұрын
@@scottbrewster4032 I had a separate video with the wideband. The base map should be fine to drive it off boost if you've got standard injectors. If you're replacing the injectors you'll need to update the specs in NSP and it should run correctly again. It most likely won't be as smooth as the stock ECU tune but it should be good enough.
@scottbrewster40325 ай бұрын
@@MotoringBoxTV Ok Thanks, so how long did you drive around with the Base Tune for and what did it do if you upd it a bit with turbo working and I thought the self learn would adapt a lot better to a standard engine, if its doesnt run as smooth as the stock ECU.
@MotoringBoxTV5 ай бұрын
@@scottbrewster4032 I only ran the engine in the garage a few times, and then drove it 45-mins to the tuner. I wouldn't count on driving it around much longer without a proper tune. By default the learning is turned off, and should really only be turned on once everything has been set up properly.
