Barrel End Shake Inspection

To reduce the end-shake in the barrel, you first determine if the lid or the barrel bottom is out of flat. This is best done with a straight edge. If you have a staking set you just put the lid or barrel on table and gently push down on it with a flat tip stake until it is flat again. If you don’t have a steak and set you can use a quarter inch wood dowel to push down until flat. Make sure you reinstall the arbor into the barrel and recheck the end shake and free running of the arbor and barrel.
