Another great video, looking forward too part two. If i may be so bold, to suggest as many .22 pellets as possible. UK videos like Big Dan's use many varieties of pellet with super results, i wish your projects to be successful as they are so beneficial to us air gunners, especially the CP2 films which superb . All the best Tyrone from the UK. Joe Lee

Hi Joe Lee, the result is quite conclusive. Part 2 should reveal all. Thanks for dropping a comment

Cutting the barrel is a serious act. A springer can only produce a certain volume of air, when the air volume is depleted the pellet will decelerate in the barrel. If the barrel is too short it will not achive its full velocity. PCP is a different animal. Use a plumbing pipe cutter to get a good circle. 1/ Otherwise part it off on a lathe. 2/ get a lathe....3/ do not use a countersinking bit to crown the barrel, it will distort the rifling inwards. Crowning is lathe work. Cut from the centre outwards of the bore at angle of choice. Then run a reamer of bore diameter in and out to clear rags, repeat the lathe cut to clear the reamer rags. A little work with fine wet/dry paper to polish the job. Sorted..... The barrel can be threaded at the same time as all is aligned . I would charge £15.00 for this work. (air guns only). CP2 trigger setting vid was helpfull, thanks Tyrone. Why would the CP2 offer 8 ft/lbs out of the box with pistol barrel? Norm..
@African-Budget-Pellet-Gunner3 ай бұрын
Thanks for all the info, you are correct, it would be better to do this on a lathe but most people Don't have a lathe hence the hand tools. Cp2 with short barrel should be sub 6fpe, in .177 around 500fps in .22 around 420fps out the box

@@African-Budget-Pellet-Gunner Yes , The airfoce one muzzle mounted chrono does not lik the CO2 blast from the short barrel. I ftted the long barrel and registered 9.8 ft/pds. so by default the pistol barrel should be around 5 ft/pds.

My guess is: unless you mess up the crown, or your barrel desperately needed the choke to fix manufacturing issues, the accuracy wont change much: it will only loose a bit of power and a bit of leverage for the cocking.
@African-Budget-Pellet-Gunner3 ай бұрын
Well it wasn't a choke, it had a step to accommodate the front sight. I haven't Chronied it again yet but I do expect to loose a little bit of fps but from what I have read, anything over 11" barrel in springers actually drops the fps

@@African-Budget-Pellet-Gunner interesting to find out first hand how much truth there is in that. Looking forward to your next video on this.

You cut off the choke

No it's not a choke I checked, it is just machined down to accept the plastic front sight
@le3045acp3 ай бұрын
@@African-Budget-Pellet-Gunner most break barrel rifles are choked on the end but if you shorten it from the breech end you would not have to worry about the crown or cutting square
