Love the review. I hope you review batch 24. I thought batch 22 was better than 24 and 23 was better than both. Cheers.

I just (today) found a little store that has a lot of Barrell products. The Cask Strength Bourbon is $85/bottle, and this store does 15% off all whiskeys on Tuesdays! I picked up batch 012 and a Single Barrell G616 - both are great stuff. Thanks for the review.

Nice review man! Never grabbed a BCS myself but I was gifted a Batch 21 the other day from a client at work. I've heard they are better since MGP got added back in. 17,18,19 and 20 didnt have MGP so people claimed that Dickel note was more prevalent. I HATE that Dickel note. Cheers!
@Bourbinsane4 жыл бұрын
Ya the dickel note for sure can stick out if it's in there! I think it is very subtle in the batch 23 luckily!

Hey Chris really enjoyed the batch 23, thought it was pretty complex but agree the price is always the issue. Haven't tried the Rye yet but I'm sure like you described its different and unique. Love what barrell is doing. Cheers buddy!

They are quickly becoming one of my favorite blending companies out there. Really impressed by both of these expressions!

I bought a barrel bourbon around the holidays. The rest of the year I’m saving money. But it was fantastic stuff.
@Bourbinsane4 жыл бұрын
Haha ya it is a once a year type #whiskey being that price. Good stuff tho!

Good review. I have the cask strength barrel... The Dickel comes through though so it’s a no go for me... I thought the proof would help, but it really doesn’t. For people out there who are concerned about that note , I wouldn’t recommend it... if you like Dickel though, Give it a shot.
@Bourbinsane4 жыл бұрын
Agreed, if you enjoy Dickel, most of these Barrell Products are wonderful! I do think batch 23 is more mellowed than previously releases tho on that Dickel note

Chris, good reviews. A bit expensive for me. FYi, for your title, this company is spelled with two "l's" = Barrell. CHEERS!

Good eye brother. I had typed it I thought in the title. Not the TN tho

Hey Chris, I've only had two bottles of Barrel (14yr and 9yr store picks) but I was really impressed with both. Definitely pricey but I've had worse at higher price points. Really wanting to try that rye... sounds really intriguing. Great review as always man... you do really solid reviews. Cheers brother ~ Andy

Really appreciate that brother! And absolutely, I feel like barrel gets some honey barrels from these distilleries!

Alberta Rye=Alberta Distilleries Ltd. owned by Beam/Suntory. The Barrell Rye 13 year Single Barrel cask strength are probably the best ones to get at just over a $100, especially the store picks. I have a Millstone 100 Rye out of Holland and it is very earthy, not sure if that's the European style Rye
@Bourbinsane4 жыл бұрын
Great input! I agree some of those older picks are wonderful!

Good review but I can't see paying the $$$ for either bottle when three $30 bottles of very good pours could be bought for the same price. A sign of the pandemic 2020 times, I guess. I'd pick bottles of Elijah Craig, Eagle Rare, and OGD 114 for that $90 BTW. As for barrel proof, Rare breed and Old Erza 7 for the money.
@Bourbinsane4 жыл бұрын
Cant say I disagree. This is definitely a splurge whiskey. If you buy it you will like it but price is for sure high!

Just curious: how were you so convinced it was Dickel juice if it didn't have that Flintstones vitamin note?
@Bourbinsane4 жыл бұрын
No it still had the vitamin note but it was just much more subtle than a typical dickel product
@JPBAMA4 жыл бұрын
I have gotten the big leather note in the few Dickel products I've tried ick
