Cask strength is also another way to say my Old Fashioned is going to be incredibly tasty! but it's so nice to see Barrell Craft Spirits put out a bottle that the common folk can afford! regardless of the proof because they are so incredible at blending whiskey and 100 proof is just right for most situations and at $47 it's a no brainer. 🥃Cheers!

Barrell has earned my trust. I haven’t purchased a bottle of Barrell and regretted it. They have all lived up to the price for me. Just wish I could have got ahold of that 10th anniversary from them. Cheers

One of the better bourbon Econ lessons I’ve seen. Interesting that all heritage brands started out as lower proof and only went up with market demand. Barrell entered when you pretty much had to offer CS to compete.

I just tried this and NY2024 at a tasing at my local liquor store. I think it's great @ 50%. Your sentiments at the end are where I am on this. I think it will give those on the fence with Barrell a chance to dive in at a reasonable price point. The rep said the MSRP should be ~$50. I have quite a few Barrell products, but like you mentioned, I don't sample those with the "newer to whiskey" friends and family who can't handle the higher proof. I didn't even think about the bar scenario for this product.

I like that you brought up stellum. Do you think this signals a drawdown to that line? I've not seen anything new from them in quite a while.

I think they realized that releasing 15 stellum releases a year was tricky and difficult to sustain. So, refocus on the core and some special releases, etc.

Great video as always. Blows my mind that KZbin's algorithm is taking so long to promote this channel.

always been curious about barrell products, but the pricing is tough for me on a totally blind buy. dealing with seattle pricing + outrageous taxes makes me buy carefully. local total wine listing this at 69.99 to give an idea but that's within my normal range for an untasted brand. seagrass is 98.99, both before nearly 30% taxes. all of which is to say they definitely have my attention here exactly as you describe. also, i need to move back to wisconsin...

Total Wine in Texas has this priced at almost $75. What?!

Well I just saw they doubled the price of Blue Spot to $290, so they might just have a lightly trained monkey punching in prices.

That is WTF indeed. In the Chicago area, all general releases are in the $75-80 range.

Returning to this, they've backed it down to $55, so maybe it was a launch glitch.
