Don't be fooled by the comfort argument. The Bible even states that God does not comfort us so that we will be comfortable, but so we will comfort others. It is not comfortable to be hated by many. It is not comfortable to struggle between the life you once lived and the life you want to live now. It is not comfortable to know what is coming for the lost. The only comfort we have is knowing that the most holy Being in existence still loves us even though we turned our backs on Him.

Mike Lee and the guys of Barren Cross were so underrated. They are still one of the most talented metal bands of all time next to Deliverance. I just can't understand, to this day, why nobody pickted them up. They were far more talented then Stryper back then. However Strypers newer stuff is kicken. I still lift to these guys today. You guys will always be my favorite metal band! Glad to see your jams live on. God bless.

I coin the word 'sinner' in the sense of someone who admits to not being perfect, but still tries to show love and respect to everyone around them. What you say is true to an extent though. The world doesn't need organized religion to know right from wrong, BUT, some people do need to be reminded (some know it, others don't) what's right when they make a mistake. And for me personally, I feel like I have a purpose and a destination. I didn't have that when I was a satanist

A very naive question but yes, we do. I myself believe in the betterment of humanity, acknowledge that reason and logic are extremely effective ways of thinking rather than outmoded superstitions, and utilize the power of inner - and outer - strength, perseverance, and determination to maintain and expand an already happy and fulfilling life. I encourage all of this in others.

Again love is not tangible. You can feel it, but you can not hold it. It is the same with God though. I feel His presence and His love and I see the things that He does and it drives me to work and live for Him. "All the other examples you offer as to existence can be proved scientifically." That is a lie. There is no proof. There is a small amount of evidence, but evidence is not proof. "We know that Pluto exists." I wasn't aware you were a scientist.

Fine, I agree that you can feel love, but I was meaning you can not hold it in your hands. God is the same way though. If there is no God, then why would I feel His love and see the effects of His love? And how would I love Him, if there is nothing to love? It is not an idea, it is a feeling, a feeling that comes before a thought.

Assinine, simpleton response. Love most certainly IS tangible and real. Have you ever fathered a child? Ever look into your daughter's eyes? Ever feel the need to nurture and care for your child? Do you know what drives that... LOVE. And the CAUSE is my child. All the other examples you offer as to existence can be proved scientifically. We know that Pluto exists. We know that radio waves exist. SCIENTIFICALLY. Laws of physics apply. Science is learning more about our universe.

I grew up on Iron Maiden so I would actually listen to Maiden because I actually got a book collection because of this - Tourniquet had me looking for the works of Poe even more when I was in college as Poe and Lovecraft are my two strongest influences as an author -- I discovered H.P. Lovecraft because of Metallica and I was born on Hetfield's 13th birthday. I can see where people like Barren Cross, but I think Christian heavy metal in the 1980s were to limited with their subject matter -- Bloodgood was the only band to take on suicide and the only other band to do that was Metallica with Fade to Black.

Actually, that is where you are wrong. You can know, but you don't because of that very belief that you have. How do you know someone loves you? You see the effects of that person in your life. God is the same. I see what He does every day in my life and in others' lives. If you take the time to look at what is right in front of you, you will see there is no question that there is a God. What you have to put faith in, is what He promises.

Yes, but the difference between another human loving you (or you them) is tangible. That person exists, as defined by our senses. It is indeed a HUGE stretch to believe in something unseen... something that is purportedly all-encompassing, all-knowing, all-powerful, and ESPECIALLY benevolent, when there is SO MUCH evil and suffering in this world. Case in point: beautiful, innocent children dying of cancer or ravaged by war. What benevolent 'God' would allow that?!
@spncrbutters12 жыл бұрын
My own father is one of those dunderheads. But a pastor once said to his congregation "God wants sinners, and not Bible-thumpers" I was in the same boat you are; in fact, I was a Satanist. But anyway, you don't need to hate Christian metal or Christianity as a whole. Just know that those people who shove the Bible into others' faces explaining God's hate are hypocrites. They don't understand that they need to explain God's love. (my way of agreeing with you)
