Good talk. I'm 38 this year and feeling it too. I get sore from sitting too long like during the winter and about mid-season mowing on the mower. I can't afford to hire anyone yet and not sure I want to but at some point, I think it will be necessary as I'd like to get out of the field every day. I'd also like to have another business that doesn't require so much hands-on time. Credit is necessary most of the time. I use my credit and it's gotten me in trouble a few times, but I always pull out of it. It seems that we spend 5-10k a year on new equipment and upgrades to our business. I think that ventrac is awesome! At the end of the day big risks can bring great rewards. You'll do great. I need help marketing in my business. Need that phone ringing so I can keep elevating my customer value. A lot of current customers give pushback when raising prices or making changes, but I feel I have to keep them until I have a replacement for them. My wife and I charge 135/hr to do lawncare. Minimum is going up to 60-65 a lawn. Lots of windshield time in our valley. We still have 3 feet of snow. Its been the longest winter I can remember. Warmer weather is on its way soon. Usually we are already deep into cleanups, but I bet we aren't done with them this year until mowing season is in full swing.
