My favorite part is after they slowly just step around each other for a few minutes they high-five each other at random times

But only in England during the reign of Elizabeth I. After 1603 it was allowed but still unaffordable for 99.99% of the population.

> The gentleman is dressed in the style of a Landsknecht, isn't he ? It is a 16th century italian style costume

When humans dressed and danced with dignity. No grinding, no twerking. I belong in the Renaissance.

I really like this Beautiful Renaissance Dance,cause when I think about the game Assassin;s Creed and the character Ezio Auditore,it brings back great memories.I would like to do this dance,but with a Korean female in her traditional Hanbok.The Korean culture with the Italian Renaissance period.

It is a "Lice" in french. The kind of barrier placed between fighters, cavaliers on horses during tournaments. I play this well known piece (" La barriera mesa etc..." on the Renaissance lute. Deftly played ! Great thanks !

And in English this became the jousting "list," a usage that is retained to this day in the colloquialism "to take to the lists," that is, to engage in a contest of some sort. Would that these performers had acted out the implied "battle of the sexes" with a bit more energy.

Dancing was EXTREMELY important at this era. If you time travel to french court and does not know how to dance, you will be laughing stock! Everyone danced: kings, queens, dukes, generals, even bishops. And, as you see, it is damn complex to learn...

Is that one girl on the left playing a cello or a special Renaissance instrument? Becayse if she's playing the cello, I believe she's holding the bow wrong.
@LuteandTheorbo10 жыл бұрын
It is a viola da gamba and holding the bow like this is the proper technique for this instrument. But you observed well - on a cello the bow is held differently.
@ysabelle.santos10 жыл бұрын
LuteandTheorbo thanks! I found that really interesting,because i thought that was how cellist played during the Renaissance.

To stiff and heavy. The music is livelier than the dancers.

what Song is that!!
@adamnoman46585 жыл бұрын
Both the music (the tune, the "song") and the dance were "through"-composed together to fit each other for this theatricalized social dance. So both the music and the choreography are "La Barriera."
