You need to remember the original Barry that we saw vibrating was a different flash than our s9 Barry. He became the flash years later without Thawne's influence. He also vanished in crisis unlike our Barry, and he chased thawne through the speedforce breach, not from the street. Because of all the timeline changes our Barry has now become the Flash that saves his younger self yes. But He wasn't the one that saved himself in season 1.

What I really like about this is that S9 Barry SHOULD NOT be the OG Timeline Barry. However, Nora' death is a fixed point, so the timeline itself will always try to correct itself. So the new version of Barry post-crisis was always meant to come back in time.

The one thing that always slightly annoyed me since the end of season one is the fact that Eddie died and erased his entire lineage. So season 2 should have been a hard reset of the timeline due to Thawne having never existed. If Eobard wasn't born he could never have made his own speed force and wouldn't have a place to hide from the ensuing paradox and he'd now be targeted by the time wraiths but without his speed. I'm hoping they address how Thawne can be alive but Eddie is dead. And I'm not 100% on Nora's death being a fixed point in time. Until season 1 and Thawne killing her, the original timeline involved her being alive and Barry becoming the Flash in 2020. But because Thawne killed her and got stuck he had to use what he knew and build the particle accelerator earlier so Barry could get struck in 2013.

Her death was not a fixed point since Reverse Flash went back in time to make it happen. In Flashpoint, the timeline was righting itself, but Barry freaked out because he started losing his memories and worked to undo it. If he had let the memories go, the timeline would have fully corrected.

It's hard to make a show or movie involving time travel make sense. It'll be full of plot holes or just not explained at all. It is a fixed point like you said. Crisis didn't affect it. He is the OG barry. Just can't over think it ImO.. we will soon see what happened to OG barry after that night.. (he eventually turns into lighting and strikes S1 barry to give him power. Then his life is a time loop. And the flash series as a whole is an infinite time loop. That's my opinion. But I'm almost sure this is suppose to be og barry. Ok, I can clearly see that some people aren't understanding this. The Flash that saved our s9 Barry as a child in s1 was a Flash that became the flash later than he did, and actually vanished in crisis which also happened later than our Barry. So our s9 Barry wasn't the one we originally saw in s1. Now, because of all the timeline changes he has become the flash that saved his younger self. But they are 2 different timeline Barry's. He wasn't him all along. Just to clarify so people understand that.

I think there would be like 6 Barrys that night: 1. The one from s5, he was there before this moment happened. 2. The one from the end of s2, he creates Flashpoint. 3. The one at the beginning of S3 to stop Flashpoint from being created. 4. The one from the end of s1. 5. Kid Barry 6. And finally this current Barry.

4:18 Correction he doesn't become the OG timeline Flash, he is just taking his spot. In the Original Timeline Eobard goes back in time chased by OG Barry during a 2024 Crisis. Eobard kills Nora creating the Season 1 Timeline. However, they seem to have retconned it to where after the Crisis we see in S6, OG Barry never followed OG Eobard back to that night therefore S9 Barry had to take his place in order to keep the timeline in place. I know you said it in the video but saying he became the OG timeline Flash is miss leading because I think people believe S9 Barry is OG timeline Barry which clearly isn't the case.

​@Cheemeng Yang yeah, I've been going around to various videos just pasting this, haha: Originally Future Flash was fighting Eobard during the original COIE event (that we never got to see) and RF ran to kill young Barry, with Future Flash running after him to stop it. We see them both coming out of a portal when we first saw "The Night". This time, Eobard is already in the year 2000 and he and Barry don't come out of a portal. "The Night" ended up happening the same way, and I believe this is a time remnant of Eobard who appeared in the year 2000 without involving the Future Flash he knew, acting as an automaton to continue the course of events. Remember, Eobard knows a different family Barry had (Dawn was the daughter he knew, for instance). He thought he was speaking to *his* Flash (Future Flash from S1) but he was talking to our Barry, the version he created who got the Speed Force a decade earlier.

Everyone's is entitled to their own opinion and until a statement is given no one can be certain, I personally believe he was the OG Barry but due to changes like Nora coming back in time and anti monitor wave happening early caused some changes in the timeline which caused that night to change in detail. So to S1 Barry, S9 Barry is moving so fast, he can't see him properly, hence he sees him blurry. These are the 2 separate timelines we saw of the night Nora Allen was murdered. I might have got 1 or2 things wrong but I think it's fairly accurate. March 18, 2000 - Original Timeline (pre-Flashpoint, pre-Crisis) In 2024, a fight between the original timeline Flash (the version of Barry that became the Flash in 2020 and has both living parents) and Reverse Flash occurs under Red Skies, Thawne learns Barry’s identity and plans to kill him as a child. The two speedsters fight and disappear in an “explosion of light” The “explosion of light” was actually a dimensional rift opening between 2024 and 2000. Thawne travels back to March 18, 2000, and Barry follows Reverse Flash and Flash tackle each other into the house and fight. An 11-year-old Barry wakes up to screaming and the sound of lightning. He exits his room and sees his mother, Nora Allen, surrounded by red and yellow lightning in the living room. 2013 Flash (S1 Barry) breaks the dimensional barrier and travels back to March 18, 2000, appearing in his childhood bedroom. 2013 Flash opens the door and sees his mother. So in total, The original timeline had 3 versions of Barry in the house that night (OG Timeline Flash, S1 Flash, Young Barry) and the New Timeline (post-Flashpoint, post-Crisis) had 5 versions of Barry (S9 Flash, S1 Flash, S2 Flash, S3 Flash, Young Barry) S9 Flash replaced 2024 Flash as the one to stop S1 Flash from saving Nora. the timeline we are on began after Nora died and 2024 Flash was erased. My interpretation was that the timeline was in flux up until Crisis. After the Crisis' date was changed, the timeline was altered so the Flash that stopped S1 Barry was S9 Barry. So, in Pre-Crisis S1, Barry saw the 2024 Flash. In Post-Crisis S1, Barry saw the S9 Flash

I always thought the finale wud have the flash resetting the timeline to the og by beating the rf someway that wudve undone all his timeline changes and then wud reset everything. Maybe Nora realises what is happening here and recognizes S1 Barry with the S9 Bart's version but she knows somehow (you can call it as Mother's intuition) S1 Barry is a younger version than the previous one. She would say the same line "You look like my father" and then the same 1x23 scenes would happen but in Nora's mind before dying she would realise the importance of this event to happen. Recreating in her mind what we have seen in 9x10 when S9 Barry told them about what would he say to his parents in case to have the chance for meeting them again. And Nora would know that S1 Barry will be finally in peace with her death with the time

The Reason S9 isn't Phasing is because it's from his perspective which is to show the viewers that he's faster. On the other hand in Season 1, it was from the perspective of S1 Barry who was still not fast at that time.

Going back to return of reverse Flash there was a original Barry who didn't lose his mother in the prime timeline, when Barry put Thawne in the cell at star labs stopping him from going back to the night Nora died, the only thing that started to change was Cisco started to disappear meaning Wells never hired him but Thawne and Barry weren't losing their speed meaning Wells was originally responsible for the Accelerator explosion not Thawne.

I think the obvious reason for the whole vibrating thing is that production didnt wanna lock themselves into what the suit needed to end up looking like. Remmeber they were still trying to improve the suit little by little each season. it would have sucked if they made future barry with a particular suit that they end up hating. so simple answer. but as fans im sure you guys can create a better in story reason. the one i like so far is past barry isnt as fast as future barry so he can see him as clearly

It's nice to see a video from someone who actually understands what happened. They didn't reveal that Season 9 Barry was OG Barry all along, they just had him replace OG Barry (as in Barry from whatever timeline existed before Thawne killed his mum). Because the timeline has changed so much that OG Barry simply can't exist, so there was other way than for some other force to simply drag Barry and Thawne back through time. I do wish it hadn't been the Negative Speed Force though. That seemed kind of tacked on. I think it would have been way more impactful for Oliver as Spectre to have dragged Barry back. Oliver would explain that if Barry's mum doesn't die, the timeline would change so drastically that Crisis could play out differently, so now if this night doesn't happen, the entire multiverse could be destroyed, and with no OG Barry and with Thawne being erased so many times, Oliver would've had no choice than to force the events to happen. And then Barry has to come to terms with Oliver effectively being complicit in his mother's murder, and they could have a heartfelt scene about how Oliver couldn't save his dad like they had in the last crossover episode.

S9 Barry is not the original timeline flash, because in season 1, when flash/barry discovered gideon, gideon was trying to say "Barry Allen, founding member of the Justice League", but now he is not a member of the Justice League. Also when the Flash stop S1 barry from not stopping thawne from killing his mom, that flash and S9 flash haveboth different suits. So S9 barry is a flashpoint. Like first reverse-flash changed the timeline, then in S1, when the flash was fighting that guy that controls the weather/sea, he changed the timeline. He created another flashpoint and many more times.

I think if thawn never gets to Barry house that night the timeline plays out as the original timeline would have. I think flashpoint only happens if they go to the house. Just them being there changes Barry’s life enough that he doesn’t become the flash. So s9 Barry isn’t the og Barry he tried to stop thawn to allow the timeline to go back to if nothing had ever happened that night.

Og flash dissapered after flashpoint when he from the future of flashpoint corrected it, the og one of him earlier that season disappeared, which is him but from the future of flashpoint so he erased his doppelganger. Savitar is an example too, he is the future flash because barry didnt erase him, like he did flashpoint.

I'm in the camp of questioning the "fixed point" concept. The original Pre-Crisis comic version of Barry had his mother his whole life. I've always figured the future Barry from S1 was a variant of this Barry. That version of Barry grew up with his mother. It only became a fixed point from the perspective of the Barry we know. When he stopped the incident, the terror of the attack itself still left an effect on the Allens. Combine this with the fact that Thawne is now a living chronal anomaly due to Eddie killing himself in S1 and it becomes difficult to right history to how it was before Thawne's tampering. I think to right history completely and save his parents, Barry's most successful (though still very risky) course of action would be to first stop Eddie from committing suicide. This would restore Thawne's "solidity" in the timeline. Second, he'd need to go to the future and stop Thawne from ever getting powers. This would then prevent Thawne from ever becoming The Reverse Flash, going back in time, or murdering Barry's mother. However, this would also lead to a situation in which the Barry we know either disappears or becomes a time anomaly like Thawne. He'd either be in addition to or completely replaced by the version of himself that grew up with his parents and became The Flash much later in life. If he replaces the Barry we know from the show (much how that Barry was replaced by the Barry we know in the show), then this creates a paradox. Because this version of Barry doesn't know about Thawne, he'll never stop him from getting his powers. Thus Thawne would become The Reverse Flash and eventually murder Barry's mother..... The whole "fixed point" concept becomes questionable, but somehow still necessary.

I have a feeling that the reason he was phasing originally was more of a visual nod that "yes, this is future Barry, but we're not gonna tell you exactly when he comes from..." Ya know, keep us guessin' just as much as the protagonist! A good way to future proof it, even if a lot of things changed since that episode was created-- we knew he would be from the future, but we'd seen suit change after suit change since season 3, up until season 6 and onward. By that point, we'd been through two crisis events that changed history to the point where we sorta didn't hold our breath for if that meant the night Barry's mom died would change or not as well. But I do like what @eclipsemints08 said, that maybe he was phasing because the Barry we were following was slower than he eventually got throughout the series... That one makes a lot of sense to me, even if the Barry that went back in season 9 is a different one from what we saw since season 1.

I disagree with the "original timeline" description. For me, the original would be a Flash coming from a world where his mother wasn't killed by Thawn, the one Thawn described in S1, storytellingwise. The first timeline would be the one where Flash became Flash without Thawn around. So, the fact this is the current (S9) Barry who was here as the one who prevented himself from S1 to avoid his mom murder still demonstrates he his the same Flash, the one created by Thawn in S1, not the "original" Flash. Eobard clearly came from a world in the Future where Flash exists, but wasn't involved at any point in his "creation". And this version of Flash, we never saw it. I deeply regret that.

Barry was initially vibrating because they were hinting at a future version of the suit but they obviously hadn't actually made it yet, and probably weren't even sure about what version of the suit to do or what it would even look like so they had a slightly altered and highly filtered suited Barry vibrate so it kinda looks like him but it's different enough to give them room to plan it. And they did, they planned this whole thing and they pulled it out perfectly. I don't think it's that deep, they just saved their bases for future decisions.

OG Flash is from the same time as Thawne. He saved young Barry, yes he doesn’t exist anymore but as a member of the speed force, he’ll be preserved in that event, if he’s not preserved, we’ll never have a reverse flash(who is also preserved by the speed force) cus if he’s not, all the events in season 1 won’t happen. Season 9 Barry was only there to stop his younger self(season 1 Barry) from saving his mom because it’d cus a flashpoint paradox. He’s only there for that event(save his younger self) whatever happens to the timeline, OG flash will always be there because if he doesn’t protect young Barry, RF will cease to exist and things will break down even worse. If you watched the last season of legends, same thing happened, a thawne without speed we kept in a time in the 70s to maintain the events that happened there, the legends tried several times to change but they failed. The reason eobard doesn’t come through a portal like last time was because he met Barry already in this timeline before he went to kill him, another change in the timeline. Eobard will always come through the portal until Barry gets older and starts the loop back

Actually if I recall with crisis , og Barry sacrificed himself to overload the machine that would have Freed Ani monitor which ofcourse didn't finish the job. The multiverse was swatted and everything was fixed up as earth prime. So now that og flash was gone the time line brought barry back to that date to carry out the act of og flash to warn his past self to not interfere so that his moms death remains a fixed point of time.

To be honest I think the only reason the original Flash from that night was phasing and hard to see when he stopped season 1 Barry, was because the showrunners did not want to get boxed into a costume, and it saves them having to find a way to make Barry look older. However if you want a story reason to justify it, the OG Flash (as in the Barry from whatever timeline existed before Thawne killed his mum) had no idea how many times he would revisit that night. And since that OG Flash probably never lost his parents, it's quite possible he would change the timeline by Nora and Henry recognising him years later. OG Barry was essentially covering his bases so the timeline wouldn't change, not knowing that it was already long gone. Season 9 Barry is aware of this though, and so doesn't bother with the extra effort to hide his identity. From his perspective Nora's dead and Henry wasn't going to change a timeline from prison.

if you look at the events that happened, if Thon didn't kill Barry's mom, why wouldn't some future event turn Barry turn him into the Flash? Why wouldn't it be possible? If Reverse Flash killed Barry then, because he became Reverse Flash, because he was inspired by the Flash to recreate the event that originally created the Flash, then he would never become the Reverse Flash. He doesn't become the original Flash he replaces the original Flash. Season 1 Episode 1 Thawne, before he kills Nora Allen, is from a timeline where Barry grew up with both parents and became the Flash in 2020. This Barry grows up with Joe and Iris and becomes the Flash in 2015. The entire show is a paradox/Flashpoint because of Thawne killing Barry's mother.
