Awesome Bonds showcase Orlando! He and Griffey were the two best players I got to see their entire careers. Before he ever took a PED he was a three time MVP and the only player in major league history with 400 home runs and 400 stolen bases. It’s time he gets in the Hall!

Fantastic showcase Orlando! Bonds isn’t in the HOF because of his relationship with the media more than his PED use in my opinion. So sad that the baseball community holds a grudge. There are several guys in the HOF that are speculated to be PED users; moreover at least one that tested positive. Don’t get me started on Bud Selig, many of the guys that put him in the HOF he threw under the bus, such is a coward. Thanks for the showcase and sharing your thoughts on the GOAT.

Truly appreciate your comments on Bonds. Agree completely on his attitude towards the media, that hurts him to this day. I still think he will eventually be in the hall, maybe with an asterisk. He deserves to be with the greatest players ever.

My childhood idol here in Pittsburgh from 1988-1992. I still have my binder of 400+ Bonds cards that i collected back then. The only tangible thing that I have remaining from that time period. Thanks for sharing, Orlando! ⚾️⭐️🔥

Barry was a great player. But no championships, and his obvious peds. I can't put him in that category. I love those Tiffany cards. I still want to pick up some keys from the 80s. But Bonds great player, but not in GOAT convo. Never dominated his generation. Thanks for the video Orlando !

I agree with your assessment, Orlando. They pitched around him so he probably had the lowest hittable pitched balls opportunity ever. But, he’d typically turn around that one hittable pitch into the seats or into the bay. Amazing talent and Cards - thanks for sharing and Good Collecting 👍❤️

Hi Orlando. Bonds certainly was one of the best hitters I have seen in the past 40 years. Just the intentional walks he used to get, demonstrated how he was feared as a hitter. Like #5! Great cards! Bonds was my guy his years in Pittsburgh and should be in the HOF regardless. They have already put players in linked to roids and why not add the best of them all. Love these cards, have most of them, it's a great showcase of your Bonds collection. Love them all! I have yet to get any Tiffany versions or O-Pee-Chee, but they are on my radar. Everyone forgets about how good of a fielder he was, 8 Gold Gloves to be exact. Such a great player and I agree that he didn't need the roids to be a HOFer. Gave a video like. Lots of cards from my youth. I wish I had access to those Tiffany cards when I was growing up. They are beautiful cards. Enjoyed seeing the display. I wouldn't consider him an inner circle player. It's difficult to determine how long he used PEDs. If he started before he made it to the majors, it's possible I would have never known who he was. I think of a player like Mike Piazza who was a 62nd Rd pick that all of a sudden through the use of PEDs which he admitted to using, he became a HOFer. Without PEDs, I highly doubt I would have ever heard of Mike Piazza.

I agree about Bonds being the best player in my lifetime as well. Only ones that could even come close was Mike Trout and Ken Griffey Jr, but as we know injuries really got them... especially Trout. Nice Bonds cards and thanks for sharing with us.

Great player for sure! Having mentioned Gibson, his 162 game average is off the charts 45 HR to Bonds 41 and 46 for Babe. RBI 197 to 108 for Bonds and 145 for Babe. All 3 in great company.

Great video, I do believe at some point he will get into the HOF. Views will shift as the HOF voters cycle through. He should be anyway, you're right he was a HOF before he left Pittsburgh. One of my favorite stats I heard this past fall was the Ohtani's great season this year would only be Bonds 11th best offensive season. I recently picked his 91 Topps Desert Storm card. Great cards, Orlando! I love that ToysRUs card! Bonds was a beast he won 3 MVPs and went 40-40 before PEDs. I think he started using them in 2000 or 200. Then he obviously went to another level. Like McGwire, Sosa, and Clemens, I think his legacy is tarnished. It's just my opinion. I think eventually they'll get into the HOF. It's hard to compare him to Ruth and Aaron for me. It's hard to compare players across different generations of baseball already, then you mix in substances that may have added 13% from what I've read to Bonds ball flight it's really tough to compare.

How do you know when he started taking them? I've heard others say this and have never figured out why this is said. Steroids were around long before he began playing so I'm not sure why many people say he didn't take them until way later into his career.

@Hodges1455 I don't know for sure. I just remember when his body started changing. His numbers definitely started changing. He was getting a little older and missed significant time due to injury one season. It may have been 2000 or 2001 he may have even missed time in two seasons. But, when he was healthy, his homerun totals went through the roof, and he was in his later 30s.

@@billyballgamesportscards Yeah, it can take a while for PEDs to completely change your body. His HRs jumped from 19 in '89 to 33 in '90 and his SBs from 32 to 52 that same year. He could have started then, before or after. I suspect he was using early on, maybe before he even entered the league. No one can really know other than Barry. I doubt we'll ever know.

@Hodges1455 He could have been! You're right, though we'll never know. After 89, he was pretty consistently between 30-40 and season, then 49, and boom 73! It really is hard to say though, and so many dudes were taking them. I remember thinking Clemens was washed in 93 or 94, and then he wins 4 more CY Awards!🤣🤣 Baseball really was a mess back then. McGwire hit 49 his rookie year. He could have already been on them!

Great video. I met Bonds as a kid when he was a rookie. I was a big fan but never thought he was best ever. Today, I would put ohtani ahead of Bonds. I know it’s early but I think he is amazing. I was too poor as a kid for those Tiffany. Why did they call them Tiffany? Who is Tiffany?

Well said! The Tiffany cards were originally called Collectors Edition and were numbered sets. Produced in Ireland for Topps, they were higher quality paper and cards had glossy fronts. The Tiffany name was not given by topps, collectors and price guides called them that.

I would argue that. He could have been taking PEDs before he even made it to the majors. It's entirely possible that more people would have remembered Andy Van Slyke than Barry Bonds, if Barry had never taken PEDs. We'll never know. I still loved watching him play as well. He was the PED goat. I view him more as an entertainer than a baseball player.

Hi Orlando, Your Content and explanations unmatched. 2 comments one off topic.I think somehow on records and statistics we have to separate the thinking and one size doesn`t fit all era`s? Like the NFL has 17 games now compared to 12 or 14 per year. What stats would Marino, Moon,Montana etc. have in the QB friendly enviorment of today with 17 regular season games? I think in MLB. they played only 154 games per year until the 1961 or 62 season. So if you played pre -1961 Didn`t you have less of a chance to accumulate stats? Idk? (2) Just watched a doc. on Custer`s Last Stand. Some guys did a deep dive/investigation that 1 soldier survived Agustus /Frank Finkel and his story. They had an expert scrutinize his signatures very interesting. Also an auction held world wide bidders on the bloody flag banner that Custer touched. But as I was watching that show I was thinking what was going on about that time. King Kelly was playing baseball and thought of your King Kelly card. Great Bonds showcase - love that ‘86 Tiffany! I think the steroid guys should be in the HOF. The Hall is the history of baseball, and the “steroid era” is part of it. You still need skill and talent to play with steroids. Most of those guys played full long careers, and many of them are the reason butts were in the seats at games in the 90’s and early 2000’s. They generated a ton of money for the MLB and their respective teams. Just put an asterisk next to their name and move on. Thanks for sharing!

I love your Channel Orlando, but this time I disagree! Barry Bonds was great without PED’s, but that was not good enough he wanted to stand out as one the best ever that was all that mattered to him. Maybe trying to live up to his godfather Willie Mays! In the end maybe if he would come out and admit it then we all could forgive him, but he continues to deny what we all know. You can never be labeled the best if we’re enhanced beyond your already god given abilities. He and others like him continue to be a black eye on the game we all love.
