Barry Dennan's performance was a highlight of JCS for me, a perfect combination with the other performers, I wish we had seen more of him. So sad to see him looking frail on this video but I will always remember his JCS - he bought as much humanity into the role as Ted Neeley did. RIP

i saw the movie, "jesus christ superstar" in 1974, when i was 10 years old. when i first saw barry dennen as pilate, i wasn't to thrilled about him. i was expecting, someone bigger and more masculine looking. as time went on, i realized that barry dennen and the rest of the cast were actually perfect for the show and for the singing. i actually think that the actors and the songs actually made the movie and the songs.

At 2.27 you can hear a woman (the one who is filming?) sob…. and I do SO agree…. Tears fill my eyes watching this. Barry Dennen passed away only 4 months later. I am SO grateful that I was there in the audience as well.
