I took notes the 2nd time I listened & viewed this incredible presentation and lecture because I knew I was listening to one of the clearest most concise and most understandable presentations of a complex subject I have ever heard. When I looked at my notes and thought about what I had just listened to, not only did my head ring of understanding but my notes were also the best I had taken in years. I captured it all simply because this presentation is one of the finest, most complete, concise, and understandable presentations I have ever heard in my many years of seeking knowledge. Sir, this is the first lecture of yours I have listened to but I will seek out everything you have put on KZbin and through osmosis and inculcation will absorb as much of what you have to say as possible! Thank you sir, Wonderful, just wonderful

Unbelievable! you summarized so well what I tried to learn with Berry, please go on with other examples and improvisation techniques, this method is the best for bebop language
@PianoGroove6 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Francesco... glad to hear that you enjoyed the tutorial. All of our lessons are carefully planned, recorded and edited so that students can understand the concepts, and apply them to their playing right away. Brilliant lesson suggestions there... leave them with us and we will create tutorials on those areas. Cheers, PianoGroove

I’ve watched a lot of vids on this topic but never put together that the diminished chord that defines the G7b9 in C also defines the E7b9 of the related A minor. And of course must also define the V7 of Gb and Eb. Using the Cm6 scale over F7 is also something I never considered, so cool. I’m definitely subbing.

Barry Harris has been one of the greatest educators of the jazz art form in general, and jazz piano in particular, of all time. Although an outstanding performer in his own right, his contributions to the art form through his renowned teachings alone should be more than enough to qualify him for induction into the jazz hall of fame - and deservingly while he's still alive!

Is there a typo at 1:31 with the C6 chord that contains an F? Shouldnt it be a G?

This one and a couple other small mistakes in notation, like the last Eb7 in the video he plays Eb13b9 but that's not written on the staff. Go with what you hear in these cases.

Hi, can you please put a link for "hadan drop 2 voicings"?
@PianoGroove6 жыл бұрын
Hey Decko, yes that lesson is part of a course taught by Hayden - PianoGroove's founder. You can find that course here on our website: www.pianogroove.com/jazz-piano-lessons/block-chords-drop-2-voicings/ Whilst we offer a generous amount of free content on KZbin, we must have a paid aspect to the service in order for us to operate as a business, develop our lessons, and attract the best teachers. You can join for as little as $29 per month, which would get you approximately 15 minutes of face-to-face lessons with a qualified jazz instructor. Whereas with PianoGroove, you get a whole month of unlimited access to 5 teachers, for a fraction of the price. Our goal is to make music as accessible as possible to students all over the world, and we will continue to add free content to KZbin. I hope this helps! Cheers, PianoGroove

Apparently Barry Harris doesn’t agree with calling the scale a “bebop” scale as the “added” note can be added anywhere.🤷🏾♂️

Thanks. This is the first video on bebop that made any sense. It is amazing how bad people are in teaching jazz. I am beginning to think they themselves don't understand what they are talking about. You do. Thanks again.
