I had the pleasure of seeing him perform on Friday at radio city music Hall. His music saved my life as a child. When my parents were fighting arguing, I would lock myself in my room and play my fathers albums to drain the screams out I’m 51 years old today and I cried like a baby when he came out, this was my number one. Wish was to see him perform live. I took my daughter with me that’s 31 years old and it made me feel so good when she started singing your songs and you all the words put me because I did that she grew up, listening to his music because of me. Barry, you will never know how much your music that’s affected my life and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for that that was the best concert I’ve ever been to and I had the best time of my life on Friday. Thank you Barry Manilow thank you Barry Manilow.❤❤❤❤❤❤

I experienced the same thing, but every time I listen to this song, I always try to bring the best happiness to the family At most it's just the wife who often gets angry with the children, but every Saturday and Sunday, the four of us are obliged to go out together, eat deliciously together, and try not to make a fuss over the food. I will always try to be a better father, I don't want to repeat the suffering I experienced in my childhood I will write a good history for the family I built, I will make the family happy before I breathe my last breath

It is precisely two years since this was posted, synchronistically. I remember hearing this on PA systems when it was popular, and it was unavoidable. In those days pop music was unavoidable. I was a student of classical 'cello and a freshman in college. Listening to the words I thought, then, how arrogant to write as if all music comes from this one human. . . I did not know Manilow went to school where he did. I dismissed it as an overplayed pop earworm. But today I stumbled onto this video for the first time and really listened, and looked at the song from a different perspective, from an archetypal POV. With the orchestra, live, hearing that last held vowel and his powerful voice, and I have to thank him. This is a great song, most meaningful lyrically, and it isn't just the young girls who respond with tears. Thank you Barry Manilow, musicians and crew, thank you all.

I think these are some of the strangest lyrics that anyone could have ever put pen to paper and written. "I've been alive forever and I wrote the very first song," "My home lies deep within you And I've got my own place in your soul Now when I look out through your eyes I'm young again, even though I'm very old" What does it even mean? Barry hasn't been alive forever and he didn't write the very first song. He doesn't live deep within me, or have a place in my soul, and he sure isn't looking out of my eyes. Also, he was very young when he wrote the song, why did he say that he was very old? It sounds like Barry is channeling a demon and letting the demon write the song through him. Hey, it is a catchy tune though.
@kittensanddaisies56152 ай бұрын
The lyrics are strange indeed. Actually, the song was written by Bruce Johnston from the Beach Boys, and the way he spoke about writing the lyrics does sound like channeling a demon through automatic writing. From the first line it becomes evident that it's Lucifer who wrote the song through Bruce Johnston.
