There used to be music appreciation classes in public schools that covered pop music. There were also general music classes, but thanks to the goddamn Republicans and their corporatism policies and tax cuts that result in cutting music programs, today's younger generations are being cheated out of this. The Republicans want everyone to become software engineers so that we have more of them to write software that will eliminate more jobs and make corporations more profitable. Some day, there won't be any jobs because AI will take them all away. This is what the Republicans are promoting.

Barry...Great job at the Telethon. You do this song so well and it is exciting. It is so beautiful the way you do it. I can sing with you in that octave, but I was very young when you did this one as you were too. Gets a little harder to do it as we get older and now in 2024 you and I are both much older. I am only 3 years younger than you so I followed your career since 1974 and saw how those critics jabbed you unmercifally . You showed them though and we older girls cheered you on no matter what they said. They said, a day, a month, a year ! HAHA. How many years has it been now in 2024 and still you are here for us. Love to you forever and a day.........................................Betsy Blue-Eyes

"One Voice" this song is one of my favorites because at the beginning it is sung a cappella by Barry, and the best surprise is hearing his pure and soft voice. Then the announced choir enters. And he surprises us with "I Write the Song" which is also beautiful. Song lyrics touch our hearts. How can you not love Barry Manilow. Feedback Resultados da Web

Barry...The first time I have been able to find this one for 2 months again. I love "One Voice " the way you do it in the telethon. It is so inspirational and you would be the one person that could make it into a story song. I love the outfit Barry and that STAR necklace you used to wear in the beginning. So handsome you are. Another 80's song and your hair is so cool the way it blows around. I Write the Songs is also a perfect song, but it makes we old girls cry as well. You know I am only 3 years younger than you. Love to you always....................Betsy Blue-Eyes

Bruce Johnston of the Beach Boys wrote "I Write The Songs." Multiple artists recorded the song, including Frank Sinatra and David Cassidy. But it took Barry Manilow to make it a hit and receive a Grammy Award for Song of the Year.

Bruce Johnston won the Grammy for writing the song. Barry didn't win a Grammy even though he arranged and sang it beautifully, which made the song go to #1. "I Write The Songs" was nominated for Record of the Year, but lost to George Benson "The Masquerade"

I had the One Voice album on vinyl years ago and read some of the liner notes. I believe he did 39 vocal overdubs if I remember correctly. I wondered how that happened and they had some really good multitrack recorders (I think this may have been a 24 track machine). I'm sure he bounced them back and forth to a couple different machines. Anyway, thank you for posting this great footage. Not only do I miss the days of Barry Manilow playing live music on TV but I also miss the Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon. I used to make it a point to turn it on every Labor Day and that's not around anymore. I would have thought someone would have taken that over. May Jerry rest in peace.

Just one voice, singing in the darkness All it takes is one voice Singing so they hear what's on your mind And when you look around you'll find There's more than one voice Singing in the darkness Joining with your one voice Each and every note another octave Hands are joined and fears unlocked If only, one voice, would start it on its own We need just one voice facing the unknown And then that one voice would never be alone It takes that one voice It takes that one voice Just one voice, singing in the darkness All it takes is one voice Shout it out and let it ring Just one voice, it takes that one voice And everyone will sing

[Verse 1] I've been alive forever And I wrote the very first song I put the words and the melodies together I am music and I write the songs [Chorus] I write the songs that make the whole world sing I write the songs of love and special things I write the songs that make the young girls cry I write the songs, I write the songs [Verse 2] My home lies deep within you And I've got my own place in your soul Now when I look out through your eyes I'm young again, even though I'm very old [Chorus] I write the songs that make the whole world sing I write the songs of love and special things I write the songs that make the young girls cry I write the songs, I write the songs [Bridge] Oh, my music makes you dance And gives your spirit to take a chance And I wrote some rock 'n' roll so you can move Music fills your heart, well, that's a real fine place to start It's from me, it's for you It's from you, it's from me It's a worldwide symphony [Chorus] I write the songs that make the whole world sing I write the songs of love and special things I write the songs that make the young girls cry I write the songs, I write the songs [Chorus] I write the songs that make the whole world sing I write the songs of love and special things I write the songs that make the young girls cry I write the songs, I write the songs [Outro] I am music (music) and I write the songs
