1:00-1:05 he rips that super bowl trophy out of Barry's hands

yes I noticed how odd it looks, no matter what the intentions.

@@rog9601 Yeah it was like "shut up and give me the trophy" and he rips it away from him.

Jerry Jones hubris was at an all time high after that Super Bowl, as a Cowboys fan, I can tell you he deserved all the humbling he got over the following years

Barry did what he needed to do kept his mouth shut for the most part and let the team win he actually was the perfect coach for the situation.
@ZhangtheGreat2 жыл бұрын
I know what you mean by "kept his mouth shut," but of course, if we take that more literally, Barry didn't keep his mouth shut. To this day, he has some of the best soundbites in NFL history, from "we gonna do it baby" to "drink RC Cola and double date" 😆

5:00 - Imo, the #1 reason why the Dallas dynasty collapsed- the advent of free agency and the salary cap. Also, all the drama they listed here in 1997 was probably the reason why they passed on Randy Moss in the 1998 draft. Jerry Jones was making an effort to clean up the tarnished image of the Cowboys and the controversial Moss was too risky, especially if he paired up with Michael Irvin. Their first round pick, Greg Ellis, had a good character grade coming out of North Carolina and had a nice career in Dallas.
@rog96018 ай бұрын
That is correct, Moss was a risk, and also along comes the hiring of Coach Gailey, an opposite of Barry.

And even Troy Aikman was trying to coach the cowboys. Who fell apart after Switzer left and haven’t been back since.

You know what? Credit where it's due: nobody could've handled such a "no-win" situation the way Barry did. He knew coming in that, if he lost, he'd be blamed, but if he won, Jimmy Johnson would've gotten the credit, and he just didn't give a damn, especially after he got a Super Bowl win out of it.

Too bad it was Jimmy Johnson's picks and trades that got Switzer his only Super Bowl Ring.

But in the end, the Cowboys needed that discipline which Barry did not provide like Jimmy did. The one smart thing Barry did was not mess with a good thing and sit behind the scenes and let the Cowboys do their thing.

Ever since Jimmy Johnson, Jerry Jones keeps selecting coaches that he can control, rather than bringing in a competent coach and then get the hell out of the way.
@rog96012 жыл бұрын
That is correct Ken. Great Managers hire those who are skilled and get out of their way, let them do what they do best. Jerry did that in his early years of ownership and look what success they had. But ever since........ :(

Chan Gailey got fired after losing in the playoffs in 99
@jordansanders48546 ай бұрын
Switzer should have resigned after the Super Bowl win in '95. Definitely should have after the Divisional loss to Carolina in '96 when it was obvious the Super Bowl run was over. He could have at least avoided being around when the bottom fell out in '97 and probably would have been remembered more fondly.
@brianswanson9881 Жыл бұрын
Jimmy Johnson quit. He didn't get fired. Winning Coaches DO NOT get fired. Jimmy was tired of Jones's meddling and taking credit of Johnson's work (cuts and trades). It was Johnson's team that won the XXX Superbowl Troy Aikman agrees.
