It seems to me that the way Mayrbek is being praised for his shooting reminds Barry of his first kill in the marines. It's probably why he reacts so viscerally.
@bassbole3 жыл бұрын
I think its just he knows Mayrbek is the only one who has what it takes to be an assassin and he wants to mold him into it.
@gingerlicious35003 жыл бұрын
Not at all. I don't think Barry feels any regret for the people he killed while he was in the Marines. He just sees a guy who he is training and doesn't want him to die.

This is why I love this show. This is such an intense moment, it almost reveals how Barry has to think when he’s on a job. It’s kind of hard to put into words but he’s got such a dark mindset. Almost with a sense of paranoia? Like he thinks everyone is out to kill you and if you hesitate for a second you will end up dead. That’s so messed up. And the way Hader plays this scene is brilliant. There’s a sort of tension in the air and you almost feel like he’s screaming in your face instead. And then the moment is immediately broken with comedy when they yell at the translator. This show is amazing at seamlessly switching between those dark moments and comedy. You go from being almost uncomfortable with how Barry is behaving to laughing. It’s incredible. And every time I watch this show I’m just blown away by Bill’s acting. No wonder he’s won so many Emmys.

Remember "acting is truth," "use it," "you don't have to know what child molestation is like, you just have to know what it's like to hurt someone." Bill Hader really hurt someone and he's using it...duh? I mean I wouldn't have even wondered if it wasn't brought up 15 times as what acting is, and then it kinda went nowhere, for Barry, if not Bill Hader? What's "murder"? It's the worst thing Bill Hader ever did to someone. Here's what it might be: "Can you give me ANYTHING?"--Sally to Barry, in that scene that won the Emmy, after he murders his old marine buddy, with the agent in the audience. The biggest literary agent in the world had requested my novel--the real "Tale of Scrotie McBoogerballs" from "South Park." The book that makes you puke, that's inexplicably REALLY good. Bill Hader was there, in the "South Park" writer's room. That was a parody of a real book--that's why that episode made no sense, and people still ask Google if it's real, somehow. I had mailed it to the voice of Towelie. I thought I had enough evidence (there's even more, now.) But nobody believed it? Or understood? Or cared? "Guys, this is MY LIFE. I don't want to sue you. It's the coolest thing in the world. Salman Rushdie's agent requested it because this literary genius Stanford neuroscientist basically said 'I think it's like the best thing I've ever read?' like an idiot, like the episode. He's talented, you guys are actually talented, this book is so weird and nobody ever thought it would sell, it means EVERYTHING TO ME. I love you. 'They did a 'South Park' about it' already makes it more relevant to pop culture than 3,000 pieces of shit no one cares about that won literary awards. Can you give me ANYTHING?" Cold. Under orders, like the Macbeth scene from Season 1--"South Park" guys didn't want to get sued or then, have it be known they were dicks like that. Unfortunately for their personal brands, they just can't help themselves: they put everything in the show. From my book, to Bill Hader screaming at Trey Parker about his personal brand, to you feeble-minded cunts who think the TV is talking to me (my name is "Rick"--the season finale of "South Park" was just saying my name as much as possible--the TV is literally talking to me!) Bill Hader felt like he murdered the guy who wrote the real "Tale of Scrotie McBoogerballs," which is actually called "Bebe's Tale" (like the "South Park" character,) which is why the character Bebe beat the shit out of Butters' "personal brand" last season. Butters sometimes stood for Bill Hader! They were worried this story would make them look like dicks! But between "Barry" and "South Park," I don't know which series of confessions is more obvious? Scrotie dot Biz in your browser.

In berkman>block, when Barry opens the door and Mayrbeck sees him, he stops and smiles, which gave Barry the opportunity to shoot him. This is kinda sad, Mayrbeck looks up to Barry, and for Barry to headshot him was totally unexpected.
@kitkatratat5 жыл бұрын
Jasper Chan The focus on the little smile Mayrbek makes when he recognizes Barry before Barry shoots him 😢 Oh man. Possibly the darkest scene in the entire series. That’s when I knew Barry dived off the deep end back to being Berkman. RIP Mayrbeck.
@TheMrt8005 жыл бұрын
kitkatratat didn’t he dive off the deep end because his (ex)handler killed his, in a way, therapist? It is sad to see the guy be killed, but we have been told not to meet our heroes in the real world before. Lol

Trei Little Yeah, I definitely agree that’s WHY he went off. The Mayrbek moment is just when I realized the gravity of the situation and how much “evil” Berkman is truly capable of when he’s in a fugue state of rage like he was in that scene. Ja feel?

It isn’t unexpected at all. If anything it’s a chilling reminder to help inferior most human beings are against a person like Barry. It was one of the things I loved about the movie no country for old men it done a fantastic job of demonstrating just how powerful someone without things like compassion empathy and of regard for human life is compared to normal people. In the sense of what they’re capable of. What’s very important to notice here is that out of all the people there that was the only person he chose to bestow that advice upon. Because despite all of his superiority compared to the other people there the one thing he lacked was the one thing that was absolutely going to get him killed. The reason for that being everyone else knew they sucked. They wouldn’t go too far out of their way to engage the enemy. But this person? He was beginning to realize that he had skill. And he would therefore engage an enemy understanding that he had what it took to be victorious. And that lack of focus would put him in danger above all others.

After Fuches gets away he goes back to the room and sees Mayrbeck's dead body and realizes what he has done. That's why its great in the end when he walks into the darkness, he is driving himself into madness.
