I have a lot of affection for 'The Banner Man'. A toy drum 🥁 I pestered my folks for upon hearing this song, had me marching up and down the garden path and laid the seed to want to become a musician. Thank you 'Banner Man'🥁.

Used in an episode of" Budgie !" 1971. Gr8 song. This band weren't around for long enough.
@JohnCashin9 ай бұрын
I remember Budgie. I watched it every week when I was a kid back then. It's funny because there was some man around where I live who was the spitting image of Budgie (Adam Faith), even talked like him and he was just as dodgy, a small-time E London crook, gangster type who was in and out of jail and had some equally crooked friends that would pop in and out of his flat every so often. He wasn't called 'Budgie' of course but he was like a real-life version of the TV character. Things started to fall apart though. His girlfriend took a fatal overdose and he got into a fight with one of his crook friends, some sort of a falling out. I'm not sure what happened to him but I never saw him much after that. My guess is he either ended up back in jail for a lot longer or he was killed by a rival gangster. Like Budgie, he got out of his depth. You don't get characters like that anymore, it was a '60s and '70s thing. Thanks.

@seltaeb9691 Жыл бұрын
She should have been a big star in the 60s but she was domiciled in the UK & we weren't ready for a black female singer to star with Dusty Petula Sandie Lulu & would normally be as a backing singer to them & that sort of scuppered her, at least Blue Mink came but once again she never progressed into a solo career.

Sheringham Salvation Army band did a video for this . We marched up and down a hill in sweltering heat. Sadly it went down on the Thursday and our video wasn’t broadcast. TOTP never played a song that went down . We had to watch it on the local BBC on the Friday instead . Great band that had a huge range of songs .

A lot of Blue Minks numbers have been forced out of fashion but things like this survive and we can add it to the other flag inspired anthems about civil action and marching under colours. Every movement needs ensign themed music.
