Okay so I have a 2014 Steel Reserve 1.2 and the fork absolutely sucks but it was stuck when I bought it bc the original owner knew nothing about it and Never rode the bike,I bought it,unfroze the fork and it’s a spring fork not an air fork and I ride all the time everywhere and that fork all the way preload up the fork barely moves and it’s basically rigid,my buddy with the manitou fork has never serviced it in 5 years except for some air and it’s still going strong,although I prefer my HARO to his Norco One25
@MrGeofftrains4 жыл бұрын
And I ride in North Alabama and I only say that bc Barry lives somewhere here in Alabama,but yeah,forks don’t need upgrading necessarily,I have a mechanical disk and they’re great,keep the cranks greased,and the fork oiled and you’ll never have an issue outside of maybe a flat tire or maybe that’s just my bad luck😂all I ever did was buy wider bars bc preference and I bought Maxxis Holy Rollers and ODI soft compound longneck flangeless and that’s it,I’m not new but it was cheap and I’ve always been a DJ,upgrades aren’t exactly necessary for these HARO bikes

I run a older Jamis Kromo 4130 w/ a 831 Fox 32... there are so many nice alu bikes - la bomba, transition pbj, norco rampage, commencal absolut... however every time the kids ask me to try mine, they always say... its so smooth. its 'heavy' for sure... I definately prefer the BMX parts as its cheaper and maybe stronger, though heavier. Mine is mostly loaded with aliennation parts and basic 3 piece bmx crankset. I still think Steel still has its place, esp for DJ-ing and it seems like the most favored bike, if people would pony up, is picking up the Chromag monk. That said, if your goal is to race pumptrack or 4x... go alu

It can be nice having gears though haha. I was going to get the Vere Radix Dlx but for $250 more than my brother said he'd sell me his bike for and it's got manitou circus experts, carbon fiber cranks, oval sprocket, hydraulic disc brakes, and other better stuff I pick the supercross. As a new father to a beautiful little girl, Is it in your best interest to tempt fate and risk being paralyzed from a broken spinal cord flipping around on a Mountain bike..? BMX is the bread and butter of your life. If it was me, which I'm not, I would give up the high risk stunt riding and maybe teach it in a safer environment. Just look up Mountain bike fails and ask, is the reward worth the risk?
