A likely conversation behind the scenes.... Austin says "Hey guys we should do that Mayday song." Rod adds "We need three tenors on that." Tim responds "I got it, Hey Chance you got the Bass on this." Chance just smiles and says "No prob."....... It is like a band with a dozen members they switch in and out dependent upon the stye or sounds needed. Home Fry Forever!

Always love the moment when Foust's ridiculous range becomes experienced reality rather than secondhand knowledge. For the record, his range is generally considered to be A0-A5, but trained ears have reported that Foust gets down to C0 during a live performance of "Your Man."

This is so much better than the original. Tim has a 5 octave range. Adam Chance the baritone is actually a bass. That is why we have more of Tim doing leads because Chance is carrying the bass. This song is one of my favorites. So glad you waited to react to it. Your surprise at hearing the switch ups in the voices was great. Tim can sing in a beautiful higher tenor voice along with Austin & Rob. And Chance can hit the lower bass notes when needed. And Adam did a fabulous job as always with his vocal percussion. This song is sung by a woman Cam, so they sung it in a higher key to match the original.

They chose to sing this in its original key as sung by Cam, a female country singer. Just proves their lack of having a female in the group is no detriment--they just let their BASS handle it! 🤣 LOVE the versatility of our amazingly talented fellas!! 🥰. Glad you waited to hear this one as some reactors listen too early and think Tim is a tenor and we have to say no, Tim is the bass. Yeah it’s the ole switcheroo with Tim doing the tenor part and Chance (Adam Chance) doing the bass part (although Chance is capable). Tim does have a 5 octave range and he was showing it a little here. Love this version. Their latest album So Long Dixie has lots of originals on it. 12 of the 14 songs are original and Chance just wrote an original for a game called Skull & Bones. It’s a banger. It’s a lyric video with lots of action from the game. Happy 4th!😍

I would put Chance as a bass-baritone. He is comfortable a little deeper than a baritone, but not so much below about D2. When they do this live, it's Tim hitting the B1... Chance doesn't quite have the power live down at B1 (that note in the recording was layered to give it a boost).

Tim has a great solo album of a capella Doo Wop where he sings ALL the parts to every song. There are videos on KZbin for four of the songs: Come Go With Me; Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow/Stay; In My Room; and Since I Don't Have You. These videos are on his solo KZbin channel (Tim Foust). Austin Brown and Adam Chance also have solo KZbin channels with some really good content.

That low note from Chance looks like a B1 to me - just one half tone under C2. That's probably about the bottom of his practical range and it sounds like it was doubled - sung twice and overlaid for a little extra thickness. It is a respectable low bass singer's note. I gather Chance was also singing bass while Tim sang his baritone solo in Man Of Constant Sorrow, but it is harder to track the backup parts exactly. They really scored bringing in Chance in 2016 when Chris left. It is so nice to have so many singers that can cover 2 and 3 full voice ranges. I'm sure it opens up a lot of flexibility in the arrangements. Chance sang up into full proper tenor on his verse of American Pie. You should try that one. They were requested by Don Mclean to sing backup and 4 verses on his 50th anniversary remake of the symbolic rock journey. Each of the main 4 singers get a full verse all up in Don Mclean's classic wide bari-tenor range in American Pie.

Chance is actually able to come within a tone or so of the bottom of Tim's range and easily cover the baritone range also. Adam, while not singing often, has an excellent second tenor voice. So they effectively can cover 4 tenor parts, 2 baritones, and two bass parts among the five of them. Another tremendous cover they do is that of Crosby, Stills, and Nash's "Helplessly Hoping"

When Tim was younger he was actually a tenor. But he had always wanted to sing like the bass from The Oak Ridge Boys (Richard Sterban). Tim said to be a good bass you need to work your tenor range too. Speaking of range Tim's is 5 octave's. Also Chance is actually a bass but sings baritone most of the time. That is of course unless Tim is on lead he will sing bass. I enjoyed watching your reaction to this song.
