I went to Luigi's a month ago because of this review. I went on any other random day, it was semi busy, and It was by far the best pizza I have ever eaten. If you can picture thin crispy saucy and cheesy at the same time. Giovani is a friendly hospitable guy who made me almost tear up it was so damn good. Bless these guys for giving me an experience i will never ever forget. NEED TO GO BACK

I lived in Brooklyn for 7 years, and been away for a few years now, this type of pizza and story makes me tear up because you absolutely cannot get any pizza at this quality anywhere else in the world. Brooklyn is very special. There used to be a place I'd go to call Driggs Pizza that was very similar to this slice. That doesn't exist anymore. I really hope Dave's review keeps this place in business for another 30 years.

I live not far from here (it's in South Park Slope). I don't get over there too often (sometimes I get lazy and just hang in my neighborhood - Lucali is 2 blocks from me), but when I do, I stop here for a slice or two. Its been my favorite slice for awhile. Glad they are finally getting broader recognition. P.S. I don't go that often because it's not walking distance, but when I do go, the mom recognizes me, even though I'm pretty low-key.

I grew up and lived across the street from Luigi's Pizza basically my entire life until I moved away 4 years ago. I remember Giovanni's Mother and Father, I have fond memories growing up in Park Slope (before the gentrification) and Luigi's Pizza holds a special place in this Brooklyn kids heart. I would come here basically everyday after school. Fun Fact, the Adam Sandler movie "Big Daddy" filmed there pizza scene here and the school play scene was filmed in the church across the street from Luigi's. They had Gio and his dad Luigi as extras in the background making pizza.

The best part about these high score reviews is checking the Google reviews a few days later and seeing the Wish versions of Portnoy purposefully score it lower because they're 'tough' on pizza apparently. If you go to a place like this or Lucali and it's not in the 9's for you, your scale is seriously off.

On my last trip to Jersey, I made it a mission to make the commute over to Brooklyn so I could visit this place and it did not disappoint in the slightest. The place itself, as soon as you walk in from the cold, you’re overwhelmed with the warmth of the oven and the smells in there are stuff of Nostalgia. For the pizza itself, I ordered a pepperoni cheese pie and instantly it was the best damn pizza I’ve ever tried in my life, the thing was steaming but I couldn’t help but tear thru it over the 3rd degree burns 😂 The family affairs going on while running the restaurant, afternoon regulars and neighborhood kids coming in and out and interacting with Giovanni and others, made me feel like I was a regular going there for years and it immortalized my experience forever. I live in Dallas and I can’t help but sit and reminisce of Luigi’s pizza anytime I get in the mood for genuine NY Style Pizza. Luigi’s a 10/10 for me always and can’t wait til I’m blessed with the opportunity to visit again. Big up Brooklyn for being home to places and families like this.

Lived across the street for three years. I’d go 8.3, but I get why he scored it so high. It’s one of the last few old school pizza places in the boroughs and the family are tough darlings (full compliment). When I moved out he gave me a shirt and said best of luck kid, thanks for eating my food.

I was born and raised on 26th street and 4th ave. Luigi's was the go-to spot after school. The place and recipe hasn't changed. Gio always wore the grey shorts. The Sicilian slice is to die for.

Ask anyone who is a regular... the quality is consistent. Go twice a week for a month, every pie will be as good as the last. You can't say the same for di fara or some other mawnstah scores. It's a traditional NYC slice. It's not trying to do anything pretentious or fancy... so if you come in expecting some type of new formula, this ain't it. It does what it sets out to do better than anyone else. Personally, the crust is perfection. It's got innate flavor. The coal fire places are great because they add that minerallyness, but Luigi's just has quite simply tasty bread. IDK what it is, it's just got it. The crisp is terrific. It transitions beautifully from hard crisp to just the right amount of pillowy softness. The sauce is perfectly balanced. It's more on the acidic side, but it still has a nice roundness to it. The cheese, while great, is about the only area I think some improvement could be made. I've had some pies with more flavor complexity (tang, nuttiness, etc) in the cheese. But again, this isn't trying to play that game. Absolutely a 9.3. Not debatable. Neither is wondering if you should go if you visiting NYC. Go!

While I was living in Brooklyn this was definitely one of my favorite pizzerias, along with DiFara, L&B, Lucali and perhaps one or two others. At This place, however, you can avoid the massive crowds and ridiculous prices or annoying stuff like “no slices/pies only”… But after a review like this, I think we can expect more folks coming through. (So funny, while watching the video, the whole time I’m thinking “c’mon Dave, this better be at least an 8.5”.. even I wasn’t expecting a 9.3… but to be honest, those folks deserve the 9.3, it’s a properly monster score for a genuinely monster slice)

I just finished a film on the Italian heritage is Hershey, PA. I walked past my grandparents home throughout COVID. Realizing what they had been through. The hardships sometimes create a bond like he felt when he looked at his wall. Give 100% into what you do, stick together and enjoy life. This was inspiring Dave - awesome.

I'll gladly pay 17-25$ for a solid pie. Worth it in that range, as long as its a solid pie. Modern is fairly priced for the pies, been too long since i have had Sallys to make a comment on the price of that pie, but if its 25 or under for a pie, from a top ranked pizza place, worth it.

I lived on 12th st between 5th and 6th a few blocks from Luigi’s for my entire childhood. The owner is such a wonderful man and a huge part of my childhood. I know this was a few years back but man it’s so nice seeing Luigi’s on this channel. Best pizza in the city, well deserved ❤️

went over here for the first time the other day, me and my partner were working in that area and i remembered this review and was like lets try it out. It's an excellent slice, it's a little out of the way for me (even when im working over there) - but will make the effort to go there more often. Spoke with the owner Giovanni when I was there - really nice guy, true new yorker... super old school place - right up my alley. That's a place i can pledge my loyalty to

Tried this and was amazed at how good! It’s some of the best pizza I’ve ever had and I truly respect how this man doesn’t charge $5-$6 a slice because he easily could and most people would still pay that.

That spot is so well known and it is always busy, as powerful as the stoolies are, place is mobbed per usual. That is the famous scene from Big daddy where the kid was sitting on the counter eating the slice!

When the box opened I knew. The fact he charges 2.50 a slice with that level of quality… that’s the real deal. Pride in the product speaks volumes. Will definitely have to get there someday

Been eating at luigi’s for over 10 years. Its a hidden gem for sure. When I get pizza at work people always ask “is that from luigi’s?” The answer is always YES. Anyone that says their hungry, even if we arent talking about pizza, I still tell them to go get a slice.

I live right down the street from Luigis. I’ve never seen it so busy. I drive by it everyday and there are now lines down the street. Crazy.
