Greed does push things forward. Just like do you have a smart watch. Most likely your greedy and to lazy to look at your phone in your pocket. Greed to want ac in homes. Greed to want cheap Walmart prices. Cheap ikea furniture. Greed of the rich only success from the greed of the rest of society. If you don’t want more out of like (greed) than someone from 1950 let alone a earlier time then all or nearly all rich people would stop making money, I want a home bar machine that does much more than this can. So I’m greedy wanting cheap drinks that are not $5-$10 each at a bar.

There are still alot of of unanswered questions about it to go "Problem fixed! Throw yer plastic everywhere!" Reduction of plastic use is the first and best step that needs to take place. As a bartender (and bar frequenter), I hate the idea of a world with robots behind the bar. I would be out of a job and it would take all the fun out of going to a bar for me. That said, in terms of making a cocktail at home, i can see the appeal to a certain extent... for me, the most appealing feature is no clean up. Some people may like that there is no need to buy lots of expensive bottles of liquor that they may not use up, or mixers. I think it’s inconvenient that you have to order the pods (and replacement canisters?), and not all pods are available. I agree, I’m super curious how the White Russian would taste! I wouldn’t run out to buy one, but I wouldn’t turn down a free one either! (Not on Instagram, so no free one for me!) Thanks for all the great content guys!

There are so many implications here: a) the whole thing with robot slaves is a bit too SciFi! Let’s face it, we need basically no AI to construct a “cocktail robot”. It is just an automat, which pours different liquids and might or might not manipulate the liquids as per presets (recipes). b) The whole headlines of the episode has been clickbait. These cocktail pods are glorified premixes and most sane people already know that fresh is better! One simply cannot make most cocktails with 100% shelf-stable ingredients (it is analog to expecting shelf-stable microwave meals to be at restaurant quality). c) There are inherent flaws with those machines - it seems that the “egg-heads” which design and construct those machines don’t ask really knowledgeable (bar) industry insiders what makes a good cocktail! This shows at the final execution! d) Imbalanced cosmopolitan: it is a shaken drink- this means that even ice water is not cold enough (shaking brings a cocktail to -5°C) while ice water is merely 0°C. e) For all those bartenders who think that there job spinnt threatened think again- there are already machines out which just pour exact liquor - this will reduce already massively the need of bartenders - especially if those products become cheaper and more accessible. Back of house bars, pool bars, sport bars will be the first places... but also other bars will follow. Automatization reduces payroll, increases control and profitability and even reduces service times.

Straight up, I love this thing. Sure it's $300 bucks but I spend that in 3 nights out. Then the cocktails are just around $4 bucks which is cheaper than a bar, and taste like a typical "bar" cocktail. It's not like mind blowing drinks but it's "good" and as you said "stiff". I think for someone who likes cocktails, but doesn't like spending lots of money (long term) it's a GREAT buy. They also have "signature" pods now with premium spirits and flavors now.

Keurig / Doctor pepper, is one of the largest conglomerates including 7up, Motts, Snapple, Royal Crown, and Nantucket nectar just to name a few . Id be willing to bet they make 100% of the Drinkworks cocktails in their factories. I can almost guarantee they don't outsource to any high end liquor companies, I think that explains the "sports bar" quality.
